“No real change in History has ever been achieved by discussions”

01st October 2021 – Gandhi Jayanti Celebration (Classes III-V)
“If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children” - Mahatma Gandhi
Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year on 2nd October to mark the birth anniversary of Sri Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who is a pioneer of truth and non-violence. We recall his struggles for getting us free India and pay our heartfelt tribute to him for all his sacrifices made for the country. This year too we celebrated 152nd Gandhi Jayanti but it was all together in a different mode - Virtual.
Our diligent students of classes 3-5 actively prepared a special morning assembly to show us all that Gandiji’s values will live with us forever.
The assembly started with an inspiring thought followed by a speech highlighting Gandhi ji’s contribution and will power amidst all the troubling times. A student led choir of class 3 sung Gandhi ji’s favourite bhajan ‘Vaishnav Janto’ with full exuberance followed by a small yet marvellous dance performance by class 4 and a short skit by class 5 with relevance to Rashtriya Swachhta Diwas which is observed to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti.
Students also presented Gandhian quotes and messages which brought the assembly to acknowledge more about this supreme luminary. This also give children an insight on how Bapu led the nation’s freedom struggle and realized dreams of billions of Indians for a Free India, for which he contentedly sacrificed his entire life.
Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony and this idea was surely brought to life at the end by the efforts and well-crafted assembly presented by the students.

June 19 is celebrated as National Reading Day and June 19 - July 18 as National Reading Month throughout the country for the past 25 years to inculcate reading habit, celebrate the joy of reading and promote book mindedness among students.
In view of this, different reading activities were organised for the students of classes Buds-II on an online platform from June 19 to July 18, 2021 to celebrate the National Reading Month.
To begin with, a storytelling session was organized for the students of class II on June 23 and June 25, 2021. The session was conducted by Ms Ritu Vasu Primlani, an internationally recognized inspirational speaker. The session was indeed valuable and distinct. Students were really interested and engrossed in the story of “Baby Cheep Cheep–Thank the balloon” which was presented to them through pictures. They were asked to read the story and tell what they understood. This activity helped the young learners to open their minds to comprehend the pictures. It also gave the students an opportunity to build the story through picture reading and introduced them to new horizons of storytelling.
Continuing with the celebration of National Reading Month, a Scholastic Virtual Book Fair was organised for all students from June 26 to July 2, 2021. Students were motivated to read by offering them a wide selection of books to choose from. This encouraged them to pick up a book of their choice and have fun while reading.
A number of reading activities were done in-house by the teachers to make the learning process interactive and joyful for students.
The activities done for different grades were as follows:
Class Buds - Art and Craft Activity: An innovative work was done by the students where they created three types of houses (straw house, wooden house and brick house) related to the story– “The Three Little Pigs” using coloured paper and sticks. The activity helped enhance the creativity in the children and enabled them to express their book talks in the form of art.
Class Blooms – Thumb Printing Activity: The students participated with great enthusiasm in this activity. They showcased their creativity as well as artistic skills by making a bunch of grapes using their thumbprints. This activity helped in their cognitive development.
Class I – Creating a Bookmark: In order to enhance the understanding of students in a better way, students were given ideas about how to make a bookmark. They sketched an ant on the bookmark and coloured it using crayons. They also tied a ribbon to their bookmarks by making a hole at its edge.
