ENVISIONING INDIA 2050

                                              A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

India is considered one of the emerging superpowers of the world. This potential is attributed to several
indicators, the primary ones being its demographic trends and a rapidly expanding economy. In 2015, India
became the world’s fastest growing economy with 7.5% estimated GDP rate. However, we still need to
overcome many economic, social and political problems before we can be considered a superpower. The
student editorial members of SGS conducted interviews with the students and the staff about how they
envision India in 2050 as compared to the present. A few snippets from the interviews are given below:

          Kunsh Chitkara, IV C

India 2019 - Currently India is one of the developing economies in the world. We have
good infrastructure which is supporting the growth of our country. Government has
provided banking services through schemes like the ‘Jan Dhan Yojana’. Also, with the
help of ‘Ayushman Bharat’ everyone has the option to choose the insurance facilities
          for their families.
India in 2050 - Investment will grow four times in next 30 years and India will be
the largest economy in the world. The year 2050 will maximize the use of Artificial Intelligence. Also,
agriculture growth will ensure food security to all.

          Mitali Agarwal, V-B

India 2019 - India’s economy is currently at the 6th place in the entire world.
Unfortunately, students from premium institutes like IIT are going outside India to
find good jobs. Currently there are only 10% of vehicles that are electric while the
others are still running on diesel or petrol. Global warming, corruption, littering etc are
still are a big part of India’s lifestyle.
India in 2050 - By 2050, 99% of vehicles will run on either electric battery or ethanol
instead of running on non-renewable things- petrol or diesel. In 2050 India will have a new source called
‘free needs’ which will give poor people free houses, food, clothes, health and education.
