(20th - 24th) May 2014 - 25th Silver Jubilee North & East ITF, Taekwon-Do Championship 2014
SGS students participated in different weight categories in 25th Silver Jubilee North & East (India Invitational ITF Taewkwon-Do Championship 2014 was held at Dehradun Uttarakhand from 20th to 24th May 2014.

May 2014 – Globalities Go Global
Sachdeva Global School organized an educational trip to United States of America for a group of students of Class VI to XII along with the Head of School Mrs. Novita Chopra. Students visited New York, Washington, Orlando and Boston. To see the classrooms and labs of World’s top most Universities MIT and Havard, was an experience in itself. Students spent three days at Kennedy Space Centre ‘NASA’, having lot of exposure on making and launching of space shuttles. Asking questions and having lunch with an astronaut was any child’s dream come true.
Apart from visiting Disney Land and Universal Studio in Orlando, students spent a very fruitful day in Montessori World School which is a partner school of SGS for ISA achievement. SGS students interacted with the students of Orlando school and also participated in number of activities on building communication skills. To be a part of their teaching-learning process was an enriching experience. Opportunity to see statue of Liberty, Empire state building, ground zero and White House was an absolute cherry on the cake. Globalities indeed went Global with all the exposure acquired during the trip.
8th May 2014 - Mother’s Day
Children love their mothers the most. To show gratitude and respect towards their mothers, students of Class II D presented a wonderful special assembly on 08-05-2014.
It began with the prayer followed by ‘Thought for the day’, a speech presenting their feelings as to why they love their mother and a beautiful poem on mothers. The assembly continued with a mesmerizing and heart touching dance performance on the songs called “Luka Chupi” and “Meri Maa” especially dedicated to all the mothers.
Finally the Head of the School, Mrs. Novita Chopra graced the assembly and appreciated the students for presenting a heart-warming assembly.
07th May 2014 - Visit to Traffic Park
Everyday people die on the roads due to reckless driving, speeding etc. and we blame the government for failing to provide good roads. But as responsible citizens, we can make the roads safer for all by simply following some basic traffic rules. In order to educate the students about traffic rules, Sachdeva Global School organised a visit to Traffic Park where the inspector in charge showed the children around the park and discussed the importance of following traffic rules. He familiarized them with various road signs and also told them about the use of subways, footpaths, over bridges and zebra crossings. He encouraged the children to speak to their parents about avoiding the use of cell phones while driving. The awareness related to risks of under age driving was also explained to them. Students were quite inquisitive about things related to traffic rules and their queries were answered gracefully.
It was surely a fruitful trip which was also an enriching learning experience for the children.
7th May 2014 – Education Trip to Air Force Museum
Sachdeva Global School organized an educational trip to the prestigious Air Force Museum at Palam Air Force Station with the Times of India on 7 May 2014. The students were amazed to see the wide collection of aeroplanes and armoury of Indian Air Force. They were made aware of the history of Indian Air Force through paintings, uniforms and models of aircrafts and were thus able to appreciate its progressive growth. The trip successfully inculcated a sense of pride in the students towards the Defence Forces in general and the Air Force in particular. Many also felt motivated to dwell on Defence services as one of their coveted career options.
5th May 2014 - Workshop on Road Safety

Officials from Delhi traffic police were invited to explain to the students the importance of following traffic rules to remain safe. Students were also shown videos of some major road accidents, which acted as eye openers for them. The awareness related to risk of under aged driving was also explained to them.
Students were quite inquisitive and their queries were answered by the police officials. It was an enriching experience for the students and teachers.
3rd May 2014 – Workshop for Visit to USA
Preparatory Workshops were conducted on 3rd May 2014, for the teachers, students and parents of students who visited Washington (White House & Capital), Orlando (Disneyland, Universal Studio, Kennedy Space Centre, Newyork (Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building) and Boston (MIT & Harvard) in the month of May 2014.
Workshop-1: Pre Departure Attended by students, parent and teachers who all were travelling.
This preparatory workshop was designed to equip the student, his/her parents/guardians and accompanying teachers with all the information that they will require to embark upon their ‘edventure’ to USA NASA. From handling over of the students’ travel documents to their Knowledge Kit, from answering FAQs to explaining travel regulations – this exhaustive workshop dealt with prerequisites of this coveted program.
Workshop-2: Launch Pad Attended by all students who were travelling.
This interactive workshop was an introduction to NASA and the basic laws that govern rocket science. It was designed keeping in mind the dynamics of age, class and interest levels of students who participated in this program. It prepared the child to learn and grasp the concepts at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center better by initiating them to the world of space through hands-on activities, multi-media presentation, quizzes and discussions.
Workshop-3: Young Authors Program was attended by students and teachers who were travelling.
This workshop introduced the child to EdTerra’s proprietary on journey project – Young Authors Program. During the workshop students were familiarized to the concept of travel writing; research, content development, captioning and other factors that are necessary to write effectively for a target audience. This workshop was also focused at team-work, task division and effective time management so that they understand the value of synergy and collaboration not just during their journey, but for life.
2nd May 2014 – Inter School Festival – Odyssey
Sachdeva Global School has always been the guiding force which motivates its children to participate in competitions occurring at various levels, both inside and outside of the school. In continuing with this legacy, on 2nd May, 2014 Akshadha Sharma and Diya Kukreja of class IV won 3rd prize in an Inter school Festival - Odyssey-14 at Modern Convent School, Dwarka.
The children participated in a vocabulary based English Quiz which included several rounds - Writing Round, Antonyms, Synonyms and Spelling Round.
2nd May 2014 - A Visit to Goonj
To promote the idea of Green School and continue with its social initiatives, students of SGS of class VIII paid an enlightening visit to an NGO-Goonj on 2nd May 2014 wherein they were sensitized towards the striving lifestyle of the rural children. It aimed at materialising the concept of 3R’s (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle) to preserve the environment. Students were made to immerse into the deep ocean of creativity with the display of earnest efforts of the female employees of the organisation which included various programmes such as “cloth for work” & “not just a piece of cloth”. The visit assimilated a sense of responsibility in the students of SGS by donating materials including woollen clothes, toys, ration items etc they felt contended and rejuvenated.
1st May 2014 – Magic Mania
Thursday, 1st May 2014 witnessed Sachdeva Global School buzzing with joy and excitement as a fantastic MAGIC SHOW was organized for the classes III-V in association with the Hindustan Times. The students entered the world of illusion as astounding tricks were performed by the magician making use of various props and animals. Volunteers from among the students and teachers were also invited to be a part of several tricks. The magical moments brought alive, dazzled the students and left them spellbound as the magician created an aura of mystery and exuberance. The fun filled show enthralled everyone present for 45 minutes and ended with a big round of applause.
