(30-31) July 2014 – Workshop on Speaking and Learning Skills for Teachers
A workshop on the Assessment of speaking and learning skills was organized by CBSE on the (30 – 31) July 2014. Teachers from in around the capital participated with enthusiasm and one could see the auditorium brimming with energy. The resource person began the first day by an ice breaker session between the teachers. This helped us get to know each other for all of us were new to each other. This session set the tone for the rest of the day as teachers were divided into groups and did activities within their designated group. The first day centered around the idea of how a proper assessment should be carried out, its need and the key role played by linguistics in the same. The teachers became curious students as they honed their linguistic skills and tried transcribing certain words as well. The second day dealt with the parameters in assessment and how should the teacher mark a student effectively. The teachers were also given certain guidelines to be kept in mind while organizing the Speaking activity in the school. A model speaking activity was also carried out with the teachers acting as students. Overall, it was an enriching experience and all the participants looked satisfied and excited to share their knowledge with their colleagues in the school.
31st July 2014 - Eid-ul-Fitr
“Peace begins with a smile, so keep smiling and make this world a happy home.”
For spreading the message of peace and harmony, through the varied festivals of India, a special assembly was conducted by the students of class I-C, on the topic Eid-ul-Fitr, on 31st July 2014.
The children threw light on the meaning and significance of Eid. They also told us about the manner in which Eid is celebrated. They told us about the fasting period and the month of Ramzan and how Muslims break their fast by having “sweet sewai” at the end of the day. The children were looking really attractive in their beautiful head props that they were wearing. They enacted a significant skit on Eid telling us the real meaning of the festival. The skit was called the “Sacchi Eid”. The young children portrayed immense confidence in their speech, which was amazing to watch and listen. The assembly was then followed up by a lovely poem called “Hum Sab Milkar Eid Manaye” narrated by the students of the class, melodiously.
They were able to give us the message, that Eid is a festival of harmony and peace. Their effort and wonderful depiction of the festival was appreciated by the head of the school, Mrs. Novita Chopra.
30th July 2014 - Tell Me Why Quiz (Class I)
To analyze, enhance and entrench the paramount trails of a 21st Century individual, a quiz “TELL ME WHY” was organized for class I students on 30th July 2014. Providing every child with the opportunity to be a part of this quiz, the preliminary round of the quiz was completed in the classrooms, which aided the selection of three students per team. There were six teams in totality. Quiz revolved around rekindling the pragmatism through picture hints round, true/false, answer in one word, give reasons and spell bee.
Furthermore, the quiz did not only help the students to analyze the role of everyday events but also enhanced their interest in learning them. Such amazing facts were taught to the students through this quiz, that it served a great purpose in providing the children, learning in an active and interesting manner.

30th July 2014 – Inter House Athletic Meet
Sachdeva Global School organized its Inter House Athletic Meet on 30th July 2014. The different events that were conducted was Relay Race, 100 mtrs. Race, Hurdle Race, Long Jump and Shot Put. The events highlighted the passion and determination of our Physical Education teachers and the love of sports in our students.
After the close of the races, the talent of our young sports students was acknowledged in the prize distribution ceremony by Head of the School Mrs. Novita Chopra and Academic Supervisors, Mrs. Sumana Dutta.
The House that won the overall first position was Harmony, followed by Pride House in the second position, and Glory in the third position. The various races were conducted with much enthusiasm and team spirit. Thus the Inter House Athletic Meet ended on a high note upholding the spirit of sportsmanship and will power.
28th July 2014 - Tell Me Why Quiz (Class II)
The final round for the Tell me why quiz of class II was organized on 28th July 2014. The students who were selected from the preliminary round from different sections of class II were divided into five teams and each team consisted of three members each.
The theme of the quiz was to provide the students with the knowledge of different scientific facts build upon their prior knowledge and provide them with a better understanding of concepts already known to them. The quiz also helped the students in improving their listening, reasoning, identification skills and also their vocabulary. The quiz comprised of five rounds which were as follows:
Round 1: State whether the given statements are true or false. The teams were shown a statement on the screen and they had to tell whether it was true or false.
Round 2: Identify the picture. A picture was shown on the screen and the teams had to identify it.
Round 3: Fill ups: The teams were given a statement in which they had to fill the blank with the appropriate word.
Round 4: Reasoning. The teams were asked questions and they were supposed to give the correct answer for the same.
Round 5: Spell bee. The teams were asked a word and they had to spell the given word correctly.
The audience too participated enthusiastically during the quiz and prizes were given to the students who gave the correct answer. All the five teams participated so well that a tie breaker round was also organized wherein each team was to name the planets in the correct order and the spellings of different planets were also asked.

26th July 2014 – Annual Science Exhibition 2014
“Tell me and I will forget. Involve me I will understand”
The Science Exhibition was held at SGS on 26th July 2014. The budding scientists of our school presented many creative ideas as exhibits. We were able to see young Faradays, Newtons and Edisons among them. The Exhibits were creative and attractive and some were marvellous. The exhibits included eco-friendly houses, electromagnetic cranes, anti gravity device, intelligent street light [switches on when sunlight goes], multimedia aids and sensor etc. These provided a feast to our eves. Large number of parents enjoyed and appreciated the projects displayed. Students confidently explained their exhibit to the guests, parents and students.
Such exhibitions have to be encouraged as students get an opportunity to present their ideas. New ideas grow in the minds of children. If they cannot present or express them it is of no use. So exhibitions are opportunities where ideas will begin to bloom for the developments of the world.
(19th & 26th) July 2014 – Scholastic Book Fair
In our mission to encourage children to read more explore and learn more. SGS regularly organizes book fairs. Book fairs have a great role in promoting the reading habit among students of all age groups. On Saturday, 19th July 2014 SGS held Scholastic Book Fair for the elementary classes and on Saturday, 26th July 2014 it was held for the senior classes. The students were given two days before the fair to explore and browse the various books of heir interest. The series of “Geronimo Stilton” was the main attraction of the Book Fair.
25th July 2014 – Tell Me Why Quiz
Quiz provides an array of benefits to the learner as it allows students to build on prior knowledge and reinforce concepts which may have been unclear to them. On 25th July 2014 quiz was organized for the students of class Blooms on topics – ‘My Body’, ‘My Family’, keeping clean and fit, Transport and National Symbols. Pictorial Questionnaires were provided to the children. Various clues were also given to the children. It was a new exposure which helped the children to build up their confidence.
23rd July 2014 – Grocery Bag Project
“Stop plastic, start a new life”
Grocery Bag Project is a small step for better future. This is the fifth consecutive year of continuing to spread awareness about the use of paper bags rather than plastic. The grocery bag project was done by the students of classes VI – X. Grocery bags were made by the students and were distributed among all students of the school. They coloured and decorated the eco friendly bags and wrote slogans and messages on them. 800 such bags were returned to the grocery stores in Dwarka where the customers got the message loud and clear! Students also interacted with the customers and motivated them to use handmade bags made of cloth or jute.
23rd July 2014 - Save Wildlife
In accordance with the culture of having a thought provoking and informative assembly, students of I-B conducted and assembly on the theme “Save Wildlife” on 23rd July 2014. The assembly aimed at promoting the message of dealing with the issue of saving animals. The assembly started with a quote followed by the thought, joke of the day and the birthdays of the week. A poem titled “Pashuon me bhi hoti jaan” was recited by the students which justified the theme to the fullest. A skit was also presented with a message of discouraging cruelty to animals adding a tinge of creativity to the assembly. The assembly came to an end with the inspiring words of praise and acclaim by the Head of School, Mrs. Novita Chopra, which motivated the students.
24th July 2014 – Wall Magazine Competition
Congratulations!!! SGS student participated in inter school “Wall Magazine Competition” held at Indian Heights School Dwarka on 24th July 2014. Students performed very well and won 3rd prize.

24 JULY 2014 - National Level Achievement in the field of Art
CBSE had invited artwork from students all over India for use in CBSE Publications. Screening committee of CBSE selected the Art Work of Udit Kumar Thakran, a student of Class X (presently in class XI) of SGS. The same has been published in CBSE Calendar for the year 2014.

19th July 2014 - Parents Interactive Session
An interactive session was organized for the parents of children studying in classes Buds to II on 19 July 2014. The session began with Mrs. Novita Chopra, Head of the school highlighting the schools achievements. Some of the achievements highlighted by Mrs. Novita Chopra were:
a) The board result for classes 10 and 12 was 100%
b) The school has national level players in skating, basketball and cricket.
c) Mrs. Novita Chopra along with 11 students visited a school in Orlando during the summer vacations.
During the interactive session Mrs. Novita Chopra also discussed the parent’s feedback and told the parents that they can see the summarizations and the activities organized for the children by logging on to the school website and they can see the pictures and videos uploaded for the same. Also, it was told that the website of the school is updated on a regular basis.
One of the important points taken up by Mrs. Novita Chopra was that the parents should send their ward in the school bus only as in vans the safety of children is a matter of concern because once the children leave school with the van drivers after that the teachers are nowhere around the children. Whereas, in the school transport teachers are there with the students to drop them back and the safety of the children is ensured.
At the end of the session mother of Supash Poddar studying in class I-C thanked Mrs. Novita Chopra for a better school management and also thanked the teacher for understanding her child’s psychology and improving upon him.
18 July 2014 - Assembly on Nelsan Mandela Day
Nelson Mandela International Day, also known as Mandela Day, is held on July 18 each year. The day remembers Mandela’s achievements in working towards conflict resolution, democracy, human rights, peace and reconciliation.
In order to promote Nelson Mandela Day, Class VIII B conducted an assembly on 18 July 2014. The students spoke about the importance of the day and inspired the spectators to embrace the values that Mandela shared. Some of the famous inspirational quotes by Mandela were also stated.
The assembly enabled the students to gain knowledge about Nelson Mandela and his contributions. It was an informative assembly.
17th July 2014 – Sharing Bliss Workshop
“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.” Making the students realize how fortunate they are to be born in the families that can provide them good education and extend all luxuries, an interactive workshop was organized by the NGO ‘Goonj’ in the school on 17 July 2014. The workshop was conducting in two slots, one for classes III – V and another for the classes VI – VIII, put forth the problems of the poor and the underprivileged children from villages and slums and portrayed the miserable conditions under which they try to acquire education and survive on the whole. The students were then guided to help these children in various ‘Anganwadis by giving away their unused stationary, old books and bags, clothes etc. through NGOs like Goonj students understood that the spare items locked in their cupboards actually are tiny treasures that would mean the world to someone. The workshop turned the students into more responsible and thankful beings as the ideas of sharing and empathy were understood and appreciated by them. They pledged to light many candles with their and spread joy and happiness all around.
17th July 2014 - Delhi Inter School Sports Fiesta 2014
SGS students participated in Delhi Inter School Sports Fiesta – 2014 held at Chilla Sports Complex, Vasundhra Enclave, on 17th July 2014.
Almost 525 skaters from 37 Schools participated in the competition. The students of Sachdeva Global School performed extremely well and won 9 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze Medal.

16th July 2014 - Healthy Skin For Life
A workshop on ‘’Healthy Skin for Life’’- Adolescent Skin Care was organized for the students of Classes VI - X at Sachdeva Global School, Sec-18A, Dwarka on 16th July 2014 by DERMA WORLD SKIN CLINIC.
The aim of the workshop was to acquaint the students with the ‘Myths and Facts’ related to skin regime.
A healthy young looking skin is a real boost to one’s self confidence and reflects one’s well being.
The students enthusiastically participated in the aesthetic workshop and shared their doubts and queries related to adolescence which included acne, pimples, dandruff and hair care. The resource person, Dr. Rohit Batra M. D. Skin Consultant Dermatologist conducted the workshop in a very warm and friendly environment and discussed a wide spectrum of General Skin Care Tips.
The workshop was appreciated by one and all.
(15 - 16) July 2014 - Delhi Inter School Sports Fiesta 2014: Badminton Championship
Students of SGS participated in Delhi Inter School Sports Fiesta 2014 in the Badminton Championship. Priyansh Gakhar of class XI won the first prize and Rohan Bakshi of class XI won the second prize in the Under – 17 category. Rahul Kant of class XI also participated in the Under – 17 category and performed well. They all have performed par excellence in all the matches and were highly appreciated by the referee’s and other schools that had participated in the same. These students have made SGS proud and we wish them the very best in upcoming tournaments.
15 July 2014 – Change in Seasons
Students of class I A presented an informative assembly on 15 July 2014 on the topic ‘Change in Seasons’.
They spoke about the importance of different seasons and the change in different cycles of the season. They briefly described each season with relevance to its weather conditions and advantages to our environment.
Thereafter, an outstanding dance performance proceeded by a ‘Though’ and ‘Joke of the day’ was a combined effort appreciated by all.
The assembly was concluded by the head of the school Mrs. Novita Chopra who encouraged and appreciated the efforts of the students.
(12th - 13th) July 2014 - Roller Skating Championship
SGS students participated in Lal Bahadur shashtri Memorial Roller Skating Championship – 2014 held at Yamuna sports Complex, Surajmal Vihar, Delhi. The students of Sachdeva Global School performed extremely well and won 5 Gold and 1 Bronze Medal.

11th July 2014 - World Population Day
In accordance with the culture of having a thought provoking and informative assembly, students of VIII-A conducted an assembly on the theme “World Population Day” on 11th July, 2014. The assembly was a combined effort of all the students which aimed at promoting the message of dealing with the issue of overpopulation. The assembly started with a quote followed by the news, thought, joke and the birthdays of the week in an aesthetic manner.”A poem titled “Overpopulation- A Menace” was recited by the students which justified the theme to the fullest. The award winners were also acknowledged. The assembly ended with the pearls of wisdom by the H.O.S – Mrs. Novita Chopra.
11th July 2014 - Workshop for Drivers and Helpers
A very interesting and interactive e workshop was conducted by the School Head Novita Chopra ma’am for our transport department employees, mainly the drivers and conductors. The session began with an interactive session in which Novita ma’am went to explain in details the importance of the role of our drivers and conductors. She also showed them videos about the challenging conditions of Indian roads and applauded their efforts in keeping the students and staff of SGS safe and happy. She encouraged them to keep working with all their hearts. The session was made even more interesting with a game that the driver - conductor teams participated in. The drivers were given a picture each and they were not supposed to show it to the helpers. Drivers were expected to describe the picture and helpers were asked to draw the picture on the sheets provided. This game was to help them understand how important effective communication is between the driver and helper in a bus for it to function smoothly.
After this the school counselor showed them a short movie educating about Indian laws in helping a road accident victim and talked about how one must address parents, teachers and other staff. Thus the session ended on a high note with a refreshing break from the routine work for our drivers and bus helpers in the SGS family.
10th July 2014 - Joey’s Laboratory
With an aim of motivating students of classes III- V and to cultivate a scientific and analytical mind, Sachdeva Global School organized a workshop on 10th July 2014. The program titled ‘Joey’s Laboratory’ was introduced in this workshop by ‘Z Life Education’ group.
They demonstrated various innovative and eye catching experiments like Liquid Nitrogen Show, Bubble Mania, Blower Activity etc.
The experiments caught the attention and interest of the students and were appreciated by all. Students were also given registration forms to become member of Joey’s Laboratory – Science Club.
7th July 2014 – Van Mahotsav
Van Mahotsav is an annual tree-planting festival in India, celebrated in the first week of July every year. This movement was initiated in the year 1950 by India’s then Union Minister for Agriculture, Kulapati Dr. K.M. Munshi. This festival has gained immense national importance and every year, millions of saplings are planted all across India in observation of Van Mahotsav week. Van Mahotsav means ‘the festival of trees’ and this festival educates the awareness of trees among people and portrays the need of planting and tending of trees, as trees are one of the best ways to prevent global warming and reduce pollution. To spread awareness about the importance of trees, students of class II-E conducted the morning assembly on Van Mahotsav on 7 July 2014.
The students using slogans and props explained the importance of the festival and recited a poem “AAO PAED LAGAYE HUM” to explain the importance of planting trees. All the students of class II-E participated in the assembly and emphasized upon the need of preventing the cutting down of trees and creating more forests.
Mrs. Novita Chopra, Head of School also emphasized upon the importance of planting trees and encouraged the students to do the same. She also told the students that the school on its part is also trying to save trees by reducing the use of paper in school. After the celebration prizes for the 7th International Maths Olympiad were also given with Yashash of class II-A receiving the gold medal and Hardik Bhagtani of class II-C receiving the silver medal.
2013 - 2014 – Science Olympiad (SOF)
Akshadha Sharma of Class IV C achieved State Rank 08 in International English Olympiad and Vidit Khandelwal of Class V B scored State Rank 24 in National Science Olympiad organized by SOF.
They were awarded with 2 DVD’s, Magazine Subscriptions and Merit Certificates.
5th July 2014 - Dwarka Toppers’ Student Award 2014

1st July 2014 – Assembly Doctor’s Day
DOCTOR stands for Dawn of relief obliging Caring Tolerant Omniscient Reasonable. July 1 is observed as Doctors' Day in India to honour the legendary physician, Dr B C Roy whose birth & death anniversary falls on the same day. To aware the students about this day class X conducted an assembly where they told the doctor's role in our daily lives and declare it as a day when people across the country acknowledge the commitment and dedication of the medical and health care fraternity towards society. It is also a significant day for doctors themselves as it provides them an opportunity to reflect on their career & remind themselves of ethics of medicine.
