To remember all these helpers and make the children aware of their work, class I – A, presented a beautiful assembly on the topic of ‘Community Helpers’, on 11th December 2014. The assembly started with a brief introduction by the students, about the community helpers. Later roles and work description of different community helpers such as doctors, carpenters, nurse, teachers, maids, vegetable seller, gardener etc were very well depicted by the students through their enactments. Helping them in this task were the apt costumes that the kids were wearing, along with the props used by these helpers in real life. It was a colourful assembly. Students were very confident in their speech and throughout their enactments. The assembly also comprised of two small skits raising the issues of child labour and dignity of labour, which were very beautifully enacted by the children. Later the students of I A also presented ‘thank you’ cards to our helpers at school, the maids and the bhaiyas, which was a lovely gesture to acknowledge their work for us.
