December 2013 – Selected for Trinity Grade I Examination
5 students of SGS Nihal Singh (Class XI), Devyank (Class VII), Shivam Bajaj (Class XI), Amogh Srinivas Rao (Class XI) and Prabhjot Singh (Class XI) have qualified Trinity College London, Rock and Pop (Guitar & Drum) with Distinction and Merit respectively. They have been awarded with Merit Certificates by Trinity and are now qualified to appear for Grade I Examination.
30th December 2013 – Our Universe
With the advancement in science and technology, it is important for the students to be in tune with the current and latest information about the remarkable inventions made in the field of science and technology. To stimulate the growing young minds of the students and to train them with basic space science, a Quiz Competition was organized for the students of Class – I on 30th December,2013. The theme of the competition was ‘Our Universe’. Twelve students were selected for the competition on the basis of their individual performance in the preliminary round. Six teams of two students each participated in the quiz. There were five rounds of questions in which multiple choice questions were asked. The students were asked questions about the galaxies, the constellations, the stars, the planets and other heavenly bodies. The competition successfully instigated the curiosity of the children and enhanced their knowledge about the universe.

(26th – 29th) December 2013 – Senior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship
Ankur Yadav student of class XI B has been selected to represent Delhi State 'Tennis Ball Cricket' Team in Senior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship to be held at Ranchi From (26th - 29th) December 2013.
27th December 2013 – Nurture Nature – Colouring Competition
Nature is the creation of God. It brings peace in our lives. Nature teaches us many values such as discipline, kindness, generosity, etc. It is important for children to learn and grow with.
In order to foster the imagination of children, a colouring competition was held for the students of Class Blooms on the theme “Nurture Nature” on 27th December 2013. This competition gave opportunity to children to showcase their colouring skills. Children participated in the competition with full zeal and enthusiasm. The event was a great success with maximum participation of children from all sections of Blooms.

26th December 2013 - QUIZ: Famous Destination
With the view to enhance the knowledge and awareness of the children, a quiz competition on the theme 'Famous Destinations' was organized for the children of class II on 26th December 2013. The quiz was conducted at two levels i.e. Preliminary and final. 12 children from all the sections of class II qualified for the final level of the quiz. They were divided into 6 teams. The final level consisted of four rounds- 'True or false' , 'Identify the Monuments' , 'Identify the country in which these monuments are located' and 'What are these countries famous for'?
The children learnt variety of facts about the famous destinations in different countries of the world; The Colosseum, The Statue of Liberty and The Leaning Tower of Pisa etc. It was an overwhelming experience to witness the interest that the children exhibited to learn about the myriad of multicultural experiences from around the globe.
The quiz was an amazing experience for the spectators and the participants as they got a twofold opportunity of acquiring and exhibiting knowledge about different places of the world.

24th December 2013 – Assembly: Christmas
Christmas is one of the most popular festival which is celebrated throughout the world. The students of SGS also celebrated Christmas through a Special Assembly which was conducted by the students of class Blooms-D. The little ones talked about the importance of Christmas and why it is celebrated on 25th of December. The children also presented a small act on the theme Christmas. The assembly was enhanced by a beautiful dance performance by the tiny tots. The assembly concluded with the arrival of Santa who distributed sweets to the kids. The assembly was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
(16th – 21st) December 2013 – Roller Skating Federation Nationals
Shubham Singh, a student of Class X A, Sachdeva Global School, Dwarka having won two silver medal and one bronze in 40th Delhi State Championship, went on to participate in the Roller skating Federation Championship at National Level, held at Ameya Classic Club, Virar, Mumbai between 16th to 21st December 2013.
He secured 7th position, all over India in the under 16 category.
21st December 2013 – Phonetics Workshop
To develop the skill in reading and spelling among children, a phonetics workshop was conducted by the school for parents, on 21st December 2013. The workshop emphasized on the importance of phonics, sounds of alphabets, breaking of words for easy reading etc. The workshop also helped parents in knowing the relationship between spoken sounds and written letters, reading texts accurately and quickly. The session was very interactive, as many fun learning games and activities were conducted for parents, such as I-Sky, crossword puzzles, tongue twisters etc., which helped in answering their queries. Few links of alphabet songs were also shared with parents. The workshop was well appreciated by the parents and will go a long way in helping their words to develop a strong base of English Language.
18th December 2013 – Inter House Food Festival
Keeping in tune with the theme of the month “Travelling” SGS organized an Inter House Food Festival concentrating on International Flavors. A combo of a salad and a mock tail was beautifully presented with seasonings. Peace House was the proud winner for a unique ‘Canopy dish with a corn filling’ ‘Russian Salad’ dressed with lettuce leaves prepared by Harmony House got the second position. The third prize was bagged by Glory House and Pride House. The students enjoyed it thoroughly as it was a novel experience of learning by cooking international dishes without fire.
17 December 2013 – Green Living: Compositing
“Waste is not waste until wasted”
Composting is an effective and environmentally friendly solution for turning yard waste and kitchen scraps into a beneficial soil amendment. The students of classes VI – X from Sachdeva Global School went to Highland Apartment, Sector 18A, Dwarka for creating compost pits in their society.
A group of 8 students went there and spoke to the people of the society about the benefits of having compost pits in their own society. Students selected the location for composting with the help of president of the society and the gardener. They dug a pit and put layers of different organic materials into it and then they watered each layer of top soil. The students will be going to the society once a week for effective composting. It was a small initiative by the eco club members to reduce the amount of solid waste generated by Highland appt.

16th December 2013 - Assembly on Colours
Students of class Blooms B presented an assembly on ‘colours’ on 16th December 2013. Every colour plays an important role and the importance of each colour and significance was told by the children. The concept of VIBGYOR was clearly explained through various props and rhymes. Children were dressed up in beautiful attires. The assembly came to an end with a peppy dance performance which added joy among the audience. The purpose of presenting the assembly was fulfilled and the children understood the concept of colours thoroughly.
13th December 2013 – Nature is the Art of God
Nature can bring a lot of beauty in our lives. Nature has a way of affecting our moods. We should be so very thankful to the lord for giving us all the wonderful and miraculous things in nature. Learning to become more aware of nature can truly have a good effect on our lives in the way we look at things and in the way we feel about ourselves.
In order to sensitize and appreciate the value of nature, SGS organized a colouring competition for the classes of BUDS, on the theme “Nurture Nature” on 13th December 2013 to give opportunity to children to showcase tier colouring skills. Children participated with full zeal and enthusiasm and exhibited their talent in art by colouring beautiful scenery on nature.
The event was a great success with 100% participation of children from all classes of BUDS.

13th December 2013 – Rang Utsav 2013
In continuation with our efforts to provide students with diverse avenues to explore their potential and discover their true selves, students of Sachdeva Global School participated in Rang Utsav, a painting competition organized by times NIE on 13th December 2013.
Different schools participated in this colour filled event. Students made beautiful paintings. There were three categories: junior, middle and senior. Different topics were given to these three categories to display their talent. Everybody participated enthusiastically and made this event a sucessful one.
11th December 2013 – Nature Walk
‘One touch of nature makes the whole world kin’
There is so much beauty all around us to see, touch and hear. Nature is so miraculous because it is always changing. No matter how many times you look at something, it is always different.
In order to welcome and feel the beauty of nature, SGS organized a ‘Nature Walk’ for the classes of BUDS in sec-18, Dwarka park on 11th December 2013.
The children saw beautiful flowers and leaves. The importance of why we need to plant more trees was discussed with the children, thereby telling the children how we as individuals can contribute towards the environment.
We hope that this endeavour will be a steping stone towards student’s involvement in conserving and preserving our mother nature and thus making the children understand that nature is truly an important part of our lives.
(6th – 10th) December 2013 - CBSE National Roller Skating Championship 2013
Saurabh Sangwan, a student of Class VI A, of Sachdeva Global School, Dwarka after having won a Gold and Bronze medal in the 40th Delhi State Championship organized by Roller Skating Federation of India and a silver medal in the CBSE State level Competition, participated in the CBSE National Roller Skating Championship 2013, held at Virar, Mumbai between 6th – 10th December 2013.
Saurabh secured fourth position, in the under 12 category. Almost 520 schools, affiliated to CBSE all over India participated in this event.
28 Nov. & 5 Dec. 2013 - Picnic to Adventure Island
An annual picnic was organised by SGS for classes VI – X on 28th November and classes III – V on 5th December 2013 to Adventure Island, Rohini. The picnic was a combination of fun rides and adventure sports. The students participated in various adventure activities like burma bridge, space jump etc under the supervision of professional trainers. students also participated in fun filled activities such as ad- mad show and took thrilling rides- splash down, twister, rage coaster, etc. a yummy lunch was served followed by a treat of ice-cream at the end. Students grooved to the music and danced on peppy numbers. The picnic was an awesome experience for the students with the various fun moments at the camp, on the rides and on the dance floor. It also provided a platform for teachers and students to interact beyond the school boundaries and develop a stronger bond.
10th December 2013 – Planetarium Show (I – II)
Sachdeva Global School, headed a step ahead to widen the horizon of learning by organizing a planetarium show named, ‘The Orange Planetarium’ for the children of classes I – II on 10th December 2013.
The aim of the show was to explore and unveil the universe and its facts. The children were introduced to the world of astronomy and celestial body in the form of stories. The theme of the show was The theme of the show was ‘The stars in the sky’ for class I and ‘Chanda Mama’ for class II.
The show organized for class I depicted star stories from different sky cultures like the fascinating story of the ‘Moon’ and ‘Nakshatras’. The show titled ‘Chanda Mama’ enlightened the children with different phases of moon and how they are related to our hindu festivals. The show covered a lunar calendar as well.
It was an enriching, exciting and thrilling experience to see a high definition digital sky in school. Thus, it was appreciated and enjoyed by all.
7th December 2013 – Astronomy Club: Time and Direction
“Time and Direction” session was based on the effective use of Sundial to tell time. Students were divided into groups and a kit was given to them. They placed the sundial on a sunny spot on the playground and marked the four points on the four edges. They then focused on the shadows formed by the sun and used it to calculate the time. At the end, students were asked few questions about where they thought the shadow would form in late afternoon. It was a great learning experience for the students .They also learnt about the role of sun in the galaxy and its use to tell time.
HEAD ON: brain- storming
HEART ON: enjoyable
HEALTH ON: physical fitness.
The workshop was a huge learning experience for the teacher.
