AUGUST 2013 – Social Issues- Street Play “Sab Chalta Hai”
The motto of the school is “Be the change you want to see in the world”. Hence students of SGS are regularly involved in undertaking social issues themselves as well as sensitizing the community about the same through street plays, mime and other forms of dramatics.

29th August 2013 – Techies ‘n’ Gizmos (Science Model Making)
SGS students of class VIII participated in Inter School Science Model Making Competition held at Sri VIS. They presented a Model of Eco Friendly House displaying various energy saving techniques and Won Third position for the same.

29th August 2013 - Pogo Fun Activity
A school is a child’s second home that teaches them to share, make new friends and many such things. Keeping in mind these objectives a fun filled program was conducted by Pogo on 29th August 2013. The students of (Buds – VII) participated in the Bheem’s masti ki class. Lots of fun filled games were conducted for smaller classes and awareness activities like traffic rules, games involving team work, keeping good health were conducted for classes I – VII. There were question answer rounds about the serial Chota Bheem which were enjoyed by all the students.
27th August 2013 – International Resource Exchange
Continuing with the culture of giving global exposure to the students, the school organized a visit of Mrs. Shalina Sethi, Head of Arts Faculty, Central School for Girls, London, UK on August 27, 2013. Mrs. Shalina Sethi visited various classes and witnessed the teaching learning process. She also interacted with the teachers and students. She discussed about the teaching processes prevalent in UK and a thorough brain storming was done regarding the strength of each system. This proved to be an educative experience for the faculty and the students.
27th August 2013 - Bilt Art & Me Painting Competition
Painting Competition was organized on 27th August 2013 for the young artists of classes III – VIII in collaboration with “Bilt 10/10 Art & Me Painting Contest”. The topic of the contest was “My Dream”. It motivated the students to show their talent by sketching / painting their dreams with the help of pencil, colours and drawing sheets. Students painted their ambitions, beautiful scenes of nature, fun time with their family and friends, cartoon characters, chocolate world etc. Some children even painted their horror dreams. It was a funfilled experience for the kids to paint their imagination on papers.

27th August 2013 – Janmashtami
The students of class Blooms F presented on assembly on Janmashtami. Janmashtami is celebrated on the 8th Day of Krishan Paksh. On this day, Lord Krishana took birth to end the wickedness, which was growing day by day during that time.
Children recited lines on Janmashtami, followed by a group dance. At the end, the class recited a rhyme on Janmashtami. Birthday children celebrated their birthday by cutting the cake, along with the candyman. Candyman distributed birthday cards and gifts to the birthday children.
23rd August 2013 – Show and Tell Competition: THEME – ANIMAL
A Show and Tell competition was conducted on 23rd August 2013 for the students of classes Blooms. It was a very colourful competition as few of the participants were dressed up as various animals and others showcased their talents by displaying different props on the theme ‘Animals’. The competition was very informative as the students spoke about various animals, their babies, homes and sounds.
21th August 2013 - All India Camel Colour Contest
SGS organized All India Camel Colour Contest on Wednesday 21st August 2013 to give opportunity to students to showcase their imagination through creative and artistic skills.
The contest was open to children of classes from LKG – X.
Children participated with full zeal and enthusiasm and exhibited their talent in art by making beautiful drawings on topics like My Friend, Holiday Fun, My City My Home, Our Cultural Heritage etc.
The Event was a great success with maximum participation of students from all the classes.
19th August 2013 - Raksha Bandhan
Students of Blooms E presented an assembly on Raksha Bandhan. The students enacted the activities which are held during Raksha Bandhan like tying a rakhi on the brother’s wrist, offering him sweets and then the brother giving gifts to the sister. Children also recited a rhyme, “Rakhi Ka Tyohar”. The value of loving your sibling was imparted by this assembly.
16th August 2013 – Raksha Bandhan
Class XI A conducted a Special Assembly on 16th August 2013. The topic of the assembly was ‘Raksha Bandhan’
The students presented a poem. Group song, skit and a speech. The assembly started by giving an introduction about the history of Raksha Bandhan and its importance. It was followed by a self composed poem. An entertaining skit was also presented which depicted how ‘Raksha Bandhan’ celebrations have undergone transition sieve yesteryears. The assembly culminated with speech on the relevance of Raksha Bandhan in today’s world. Assembly was informative and was thoroughly enjoyed by one and all.
14th August 2013 – Zonal Science Toon Competition
SGS students participated in the Zonal ‘Science Quiz Toon’ Competition held at Govt. Co. Ed. School Sec-22, Dwarka organized by Directorate of Education and won second position.

14th August 2013 - Inter-house Debate Competition
The right to express our opinion, the right to be heard, the right to free speech is one of our fundamental rights. It is the gift of Democracy. It is the sign of independence, so what better way to celebrate our 66th year of Independence than debate. In the words of Jesse Jackson Delibration and debate is the way you stir the soul of our democracy.
On 14 August 2013, am Inter-house Debate Competition was organised on the topic, “Universal brotherhood is more important than patriotism”. The event provided the students a platform to express their ideas, opinion, and thoughts on the topic. Soon a soul stirring, energetic, and heated debate ensued where students came up with arguments on both the importance of patriotic fervour and significance of Universal brotherhood in the age of globalization.
The debate saw two students from each house speaking in the favour and against the motion. While some students argued that patriotism is the pillar on which a nation stands, others argued that it’s a mere step towards attaining universal brotherhood. Great visionaries like Buddha, Christ, Confucius, all carried the baton of universal brotherhood while some students felt that to attain universal brother hood it is imperative to first establish internal brotherhood within a country Charity begins at home.
The head of our school, Mrs. Novita Chopra and Academic coordinator Mrs. Sumana Dutta chaired the session. They applauded the performance of the participants. Harmony House stood first, while the second position was bagged by Pride House. The awards for first best speaker went to Ipsa Jaiswal of class X A and second best speaker to Tanya Dhankar of Class IX B.
14th August 2013 - Fancy Dress Competition (Freedom Fighters)
The students of class I rekindled the spirit of patriotism and remembered our great freedom fighters by participating in the Fancy Dress Competition based on the theme ‘Freedom Fighters’ held on 14th August 2013.
Young enthusiastic children beaming with joy, looking all confident, were dressed beautifully in attires of various freedom fighters such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose etc. They spoke confidentially and projected their character very well. Through this competition the students gave a tribute to our freedom fighters because of whom we are breaking in Independent India.

14th August 2013 - Independence Day Assembly
On the eve of Independence Day a special Assembly was organized for the Junior School Children wherein the Head of the School Mrs. Novita Chopra hoisted the flag followed by the school band presenting a melody of Patriotic Songs. The children of Junior School were dressed as different freedom fighters and spoke few lines on them. The special assembly made the children aware of the importance of Independence Day.
13th August 2013 - Independence Day Celebrations
As India celebrated 66 years of Independence, Sachdeva Global School also commemorated this epic event with much zest and enthusiasm on the 13th August 2013. The entire school was decorated with the colors of the ‘tiranga’. The program started with the welcome of the esteemed Chairman, Shri S. K. Sachdeva and Vice - Chairman, Mr. Anil Sachdeva and other guests to the program. The flag was hoisted by Shri S. K. Sachdeva with the spirit of patriotism in each hearts to the tune of “Jana Gana Mana”. The program started with the school band performing a patriotic song. It was followed by an enthusiastic performance of a group song “Hum sab ek hai” by the school choir. After this Pranav Yadav of Class X recited a poem in Hindi epitomizing the patriotic spirit of Indians. The highlight of the program was the skit cum dance performance by our students from classes VIII - XI. This choreography beautifully portrayed how Mother India is currently suffering due to various vices and evils of society and how we can overcome it. ” Then two doves were released by the Chairman and Vice-Chairman as an act symbolizing India’s freedom. The program ended with a spirit of hope and determination towards each one of us being instrumental in designing a better tomorrow.
12th August 2013 - Fancy Dress Competition (Freedom Struggle)
“Let freedom never perish in your hands”
With the view of keeping the fragrance of freedom alive, a Fancy Dress Competition was organized to mark the 67th year of Indian Independence. The competition based on the theme, ‘Freedom Struggle’ was organized on 12th August 2013.
Students of class II participated with alacrity and enthusiasm unveiling their feelings of love and patriotism towards their motherland. The children dressed as national leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Rani Lakshmi Bai and Bhagat Singh etc. flashed the memories and contribution of our freedom fighters. The auditorium echoed with the sounds of inspiring poems like – ‘khoob Ladi Mardani woh to Jhansi wali rani thi’ etc, filled every heart with pride and honour.
This competition not only helped in enhancing the personality of the children, but also gave them an opportunity to understand the meaning of Independence. The competition was indeed a tribute to our national leaders who sacrificed their lives to save their mother land.

13th August 2013 - Financial Education Workshop
An informative workshop on financial education was held on 13th August 2013 by Mr. Mukul Jain, Representative of SEBI (Securities Exchange Board of India). The Workshop focused on basic investment and financial terms like Shares, Debentures, Mutual funds, Financial Papers, etc. The workshop threw light on the need and importance of various financial instruments. He emphasized on the institutional framework of financial market which consist of RBI, SEBI, IRDA, FMC and PFRDA. It proved to be very fruitful and informative session for classes XI and XII.
(10th - 11th) August 2013 - 2nd Inter School Roller Skating Championship
SGS students participated in 2nd Inter School Roller Skating Championship-2013 (10th – 11th) August 2013. Almost 375 skaters participated. The students of Sachdeva Global School performed extremely well and won 5 Gold, 3 Silver, 5 Bronze Medals and a Trophy.

8th August 2013 – Ad-Ventura Inter School Competition
Our students performed a mime act for the advertisement and the product they advertized was a mattress. From 32 schools that participated our students from SGS won the FIRST PRIZE and got a standing ovation from the judges. They were deemed the best among all for their emotional and brilliant performance in this competition.

7th August 2013 – Means of Transport
The students of class Blooms- D presented an assembly on means of Transport. The children gave a brief introduction on various modes of Transport followed by melodious rhymes thereby classifying Land, Air and Water transport which was enhanced by usage of colourful placards and props. The assembly concluded by spreading the awareness about traffic rules.
4th August 2013 – Paryavaran Mitra
S. Padmashree, young leader of Sachdeva Global School and our ECO-CLUB incharge Ms. Megha Chaudhary got the golden opportunity to present their Young Leader Action plan of ‘WASTE SEGREGATION’ before Mr. Sudhir Kumar Sinha, Country Head, CSR, Arcelor Mittal and Mr. Pramod Sharma from CEE at Arcelor Mittal Headoffice New Delhi .The action plan was appreciated by them and they also gave some suggestions to make it more productive and appreciated the school efforts to contribute towards environment. It was a confidence boost and a great learning experience for the child.
3rd August 2013 – Phonetics Workshop
An interactive workshop on Phonics was held on 3rd August 2013 by Ms. Monisha Gupta, who is an alumnus of the prestigious Sacred Heart Convent and Loyola School. She received an Honours degree from Indraprastha College, Delhi University. She has worked in various schools and has also been the resource person with the British Council, India Habitat Centre, Times of India and Scholastic India. She is the Master Trainer for “UK College for Teachers’ Accredited Course” on Phonics from Scholastic.
The workshop brought into light the various aspects of teaching and learning the phonics sounds. The teachers of classes Buds – II and the English faculty attended the workshop.
She emphasized that for children to be more attentive and active in the classroom, storytelling techniques, interactive games and funfilled worksheets should be used. More participation and interaction from the childrens’ end would motivate them to understand the concept and usage of phonetics.
For each and every letter, she gave verbal clues
Eg:- for letter l –roll your tongue
V – bite the lower lip
W – round mouth
To correlate the sound with the respective letter.
She also put light on the importance of sight words and how to introduce them to the students.
The workshop was really informative and thoroughly enjoyed by all the teachers.
2nd August 2013 – ‘Paint What You Love’ Competition
SGS students participated in New Era Public School’s on the Spot Painting Competition on 2nd August 2013. Students painted their hobbies, imaginations and dreams.
They won two prizes in this competition.

2nd August 2013 - International Youth Day Celebration
Sachdeva Global School, celebrated International Youth Day on the 2nd of August 2013 with a special morning assembly presented by students of class X. International Youth Day was established by the United Nations in 2000 as a means of raising awareness of issues affecting young people around the world. The event is now marked on 12 August each Year, the day aims to celebrate the contribution youths make to society.
Each year a theme is selected for celebrating the international youth day and this year it is 'Youth Migration: Moving Development Forward'. At SGS we understand that today’s generation of youth is the largest the world has ever known and has unprecedented potential to advance the well-being of the entire human family, hence what better way to celebrate such a day than getting the youth to come up with some thought provoking programme.
Students created a human formation symbolizing youth day, and presented their views on the importance and role of youth in the progress of the world.
Taking the spirit of youth forwards, a street play was presented titled “Kallu Padhna Chahta hai”, which depicted how timely intervention by three youngsters and police helped in saving the childhood aspiration of Kallu who wanted to go to school.
Students also presented a musical composition, “Forever Young” encapsulating the spirit of Youth. The programme highlighted the need to listen to and engage the young people, establish a stronger mechanism for youth participation.
Mrs. Novita Chopra applauded the effort of the students and mentioned that the time has come to integrate youth voices more meaningfully into decision-making processes at all levels. She emphasised that without urgent measures, we risk creating a “lost generation” of squandered talent and dreams.
August 2013 - Donation to 'RAHAT FLOODS'
The unthinkable calamity caused by floods at Uttarakhand and its disastrous fallout in terms of life and property has left an indelible mark on the conscience of every Indian. Today, the heart of each one of us wants to reach out to help the survivors in whatever way possible. SGS in collaboration with 'Goonj', an NGO of national repute has tried to provide assistance to the ill fated people by donating to the campaign 'RAHAT FLOODS'. All parents, staff and students donated open- heartedly following items.
Tarpaulins, mosquito nets, blankets and woollens, cooking utensils, buckets, torch and batteries, umbrellas, basic medicines, water purifier tablets, crutches, candles, lanterns, feeding bottles, rope etc.
Monetary contributions were also sent to GOONJ office as a part of the social initiatives taken up by the school.
