30th January 2012 – Joy of Giving
“Life is not so short, but there’s always time
enough for courtesy”
Sharing begets love and care with this thought, an effort was made by SGS community to contribute towards the society by undertaking a ‘collection drive’. With the motive of creating a sense of warmth and affection for the needy during the harsh winters, warm clothes were collected by SGS students and nicely packed to be sent to an NGO named ‘Goonj’. These will be distributed to the needy under their ‘Vastra Samman’ initiative. Students took part in this community initiative with great enthusiasm and supported it whole – heartedly.
23rd January 2012 – Annual Day Celebrations
The day began with lot of vigour and enthusiasm at School, as everyone prepared to celebrate the Annual Day. Students and staff of SGS had spent weeks preparing for the event. No effort was spared and every detail was taken care of, right from practice of the acts, songs and dances, preparation of the essential props and designing and organizing of costumes.
The programme started with a beautiful performance on 'Ganesh Vandana' and lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The motivational speech by Chairman, Shri S. K. Sachdeva charged the patriotic spirits of the large crowd of parents gathered along with the student and teacher community. WE INDIANS SURELY ROCK - this feeling was displayed by the young singers singing to the tune of 'We will Rock you', while the school band accompanied them perfectly.
The toddlers of the junior classes displayed their flair in dance and music while conveying the message of unity. 'Rumble in the Jungle' proved to be a perfect entertainer as the little ones danced and twisted to the music and enacted marvelously. They were appreciated by one and all.
The students of senior classes kept the audiences spell bound with their street plays and foot tapping dances, grooving to the tunes of 'Tango' as well as 'Bhangra'. A perfect blend could be seen in the dance performances by the students and their rendition of “Teeja Tera Rang Tha…” brought tears to the eyes of many a spectators. Each display brought out the diversity and richness of the culture of India and the whole show lent a festive air to the occasion. Dance performances like 'Zamane ke Sartaj' and 'Naman Hai' pushed the audiences to get up from their seats and cheer the students with loud applause.
The patriotic fervor brought everyone together and closer to the feeling of being proud Indian citizens. The closing saw a scintillating 'Peace Dance' performance. As the name suggests, it conveyed the feeling of being one. Last but certainly not the least, an action packed 'Skating performance' proved to be the cherry on the cake - the young skaters’ spins, jumps and formations took everybody’s breathe away. The finale showed varied colours of SGSians from kindergarten to senior talent pool. It is rightly said that ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL - a perfect start, perfect composition and a perfect conclusion is the recipe of a perfect show. This holds true for ‘THE AWAKENING 2012’ - PROUD TO BE AN SGSian.
The young achievers of SGS were felicitated by the honourable dignitaries, trophies and certificates of merit in various fields for session 2011-1012 were given away for the students’ excellent performance. Interschool and State level Awards in - Judo & Wrestling, Roller Skating, CBSE Science Exhibition, Science Zonal Activities Green School Programme – Best Manager’s Trophy from CSE, and many more were also announced. Best House Trophy was lifted by Glory House for winning maximum prizes in inter-house competitions through the year. All these achievements will definitely pave the way for a brighter future of SGS students.
