24th October 2011 – Anti Cracker Campaign
Diwali, a festival of joy, peace and prosperity Should not be a threat to the environment. For most people bursting crackers is a highlight of Diwali. The brighter the sparkles, the louder, the noise and greater is the thrill! These aesthetic forms of light seem so appropriate and essential when celebrating the ‘Festival of Lights’. But little do we realize that this temporary joy is soon replaced by intense pollution.
Keeping this in mind, the school initiated an “Anti Cracker Campaign”. The students of Classes VI – X o a silent march to the local markets of Dwarka. They denounced the use of crackers and approached people in the market not to buy noisy and polluting crackers.
We at SGS believe that each small step small step and every small action will count and will bring about the necessary difference. So let us behave like responsible humans and treat our environment with respect, to serve a common cause.
