Parents and schools are partners in proper and holistic development of a child. A Parent Orientation Programme was organized in school for the parents of new students. 15th March 2011 - Green School Programme

“SGS amongst top 15 schools shortlisted for
the Delhi State Green School Awards 2010”

“Environment cannot be taught as just another subject – yet every subject can help us understand it better”.

The Green School Programme moves beyond theories and text books and concentrates solely on doing. It is designed as a tool to help school communities to audit the use of natural resources within their own premises. It then provides them the methodology to assess themselves as environmental managers. SGS was one of the schools who got the opportunity to do their bit for the environment. A group of teachers from the school attended training – cum – workshops in CSE (Centre for Science Environment). This team held a workshop for the other teachers of the school and started training the students of the Eco Club. This programme helped them understand their role in sustainable use of natural resources.

Teachers trained the students of Eco Club to audit various resources used by the school, which included Air, Water and Energy. Students went around the school in groups collecting the required data. They thoroughly enjoyed learning by doing and in their own way helping the environment blossom. Their dedicated efforts paid off as our school was ranked amongst top 15 schools shortlisted for the Delhi State Green School Awards 2010.

The school will engage its students in such initiatives, so as to bring about a notable change in the environment we live in.
