30th to 31st July 2011 - Skating Competition
It was a red letter day for the young skaters of SGS at Dwarka Sports Complex Sector-11. They participated in a competition, Delhi Roller Hockey Club, 2011 organized by Skate World Society. Students came up with flying colours.

28 July 2011 – Inter House Badminton Match
Healthy mind resides in a healthy body. SGS engages students in various sports activities. Inter House Badminton Match for Boys and Girls was organized in school.
The preliminary matches were played between Glory House and Peace House; Harmony House and Pride House. In the final match boys Nishant Sharma and Udit Kumar of Glory House defeated Bhunesh Sangwan and Dron Solanki of Pride House by 21 - 16
The final match for girls was played between Harmony House and Peace House. Dolly of Harmony House defeated Adarshika Patial of Peace House by 21 - 19.
28 जुलाई 2011 - कथालेखन प्रतियोगिता
28 जुलाई 2011 को कक्षा नंवी व दसवी के संस्कृत विद्यार्थियों के मध्य कथालेखन प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गया | इस प्रतियोगिता में छात्रों नें अपनी बुद्धिक्षमता का सराहनीय प्रदर्शन करते हुए कथाओं का निर्माण किया | इस कथालेखन प्रतियोगिता में विद्यार्थियों की वर्तनी की त्रुटियों, कथा का सार, व कथा को ध्यान में रखते हुए विजेताओं को प्रशस्ति पत्र दिया गया|

25th July 2011 – Fancy Dress Competition
Fancy Dress Competitions are exciting for children. Students, teachers and parents unleashed their creativity for the Fancy Dress Contest organized for Classes Buds–Blooms. The theme for the show was Fairy Tale Characters. Children came on the stage dressed up beautifully in characters like Red Fairy, Flower Fairy, Aladdin, King and Prince, Cinderella, Mermaid and Mosquito Ben 10 etc. Stepping alone on–stage was a big challenge for most of them however they all did their very best and won every- body’s hearts!

23rd July 2011 – Science Exhibition
As stated by Dewey, learning takes place only by doing. At SGS, the theoretical knowledge is substantiated by practical learning.
On Saturday, 23rd July 2011, the school organized a Science Exhibition for parents. It showcased the hard work of the children and teachers. The children acquired knowledge by doing. This experience enabled them to unravel their hidden talent and promoted their interest in the field of science. Students made numerous models under their teachers’ supervision and presented them with great enthusiasm to the parents. Working models such as, Fire Alarm, Game of Nerves, Adventure Island, Periscope, Rain Alarm etc. were on display.
The schools’ effort received whole hearted appreciation from the parents. We look forward to providing such platform of ‘learning by doing’, in the future also!
15th July 2011 – Green School Program
SGS added another feather to its cap at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, when school was awarded the Best Manager’s Trophy in the Green School Program (GSP) by CSE India. This was a moment of great pride, both for the school and students as they received the award from the honourable hands of Chief Minister of Delhi, Ms. Sheila Dixit.
Our school joined the GSP last year and became an active member in saving Earth’s Natural Resources and started awareness and auditing at school level. Under this program the school audited three natural resources in the last session. On the basis of this the school got the ‘Best Manager’s Trophy’ in the water category.
11th July 2011 – Waste Management Rally
An active green school, SGS has started several environment friendly initiatives one of these is, managing the waste generated by us. Eco Club students conducted a rally in the school. Students carried banners with slogans like Quit Littering, Clean Earth is a Happy Earth and many more to sensitize their fellow friends against the hazardous effects of mindless littering. Students visited the classes to introduce the Bio-degradable Bins (Green Bin for paper and Red Bin for leftover food) and Non-biodegradable Bins (Blue Bins for waste like plastic, sweet wrappers etc). The Eco club members have separate plans to recycle the used paper.
Compost pit has already been made within the premises. The club members have urged the gardeners and helpers to dump biodegradable waste (from plants and left over food etc) collected from respective classes / areas in this compost pit.
