Nishtha Rana

“Smart and dynamic”, that’s what best describes Nishtha. She evolved as a dancer, a writer, a
speaker and an honest student in her seven long years that she studied at SGS. He decision
to choose humanities over sciences may have surprised many, but she feels that her choice
gave her time to develop her creative self.
Having secured over 90% marks, Nishtha, decided to enrol for English (Hons) from Bharti
College, Delhi University. She may be excited about the freedom that college life has to offer,
but misses the care and affection of her school teachers. She feels that SGS helped her develop
her creative faculties without compromising on her academic growth and this inspired her to join
the “Chilman Dramatic Society” of the Delhi University along with her graduation.
Like most of her friends and fellow students, Nishtha might be living in the present, but feels that her strong
foundation that was built while in SGS, will guide her for the rest of her life.

          Sarthak Tagra
Sarthak joined team SGS in class XI and was suddenly the apple of everyone’s eye. An honest
and sincere student, Sarthak impressed everyone with his pro-activeness and confidence.
Though confident, he was undecided about his future and could generally be seen seeking
guidance of his teachers in the school corridors. Inspired by the several counselling sessions
at SGS, Sarthak decided to pursue Economics (Hons) from DTU, Delhi University. His internship
at Vetadya (while in class XI and XII), during which he also won a scholarship for himself, helped
him realise his potential and his interest in the subject. Sarthak feels that he owes his current
attitude and personality to SGS, its staff and the school environment.
Sarthak believes that the school inculcated in him that nothing is impossible and only self-belief is desired to
          achieve the impossible.

          Kartikey Rao

Many would be surprised to hear that our ex-school head boy, ex-vice sports captain and
national level rope skipping champion joined team SGS only in class IX. In a short span of just
4 years, Kartikey proved himself worthy of the SGS values and ethics.
Besides the different virtues that Kartikey learnt at SGS, he feels, the school taught him team
work, people interaction, leadership skills and ownership, which are vital for any person’s
          success.
Kartikey is an academically bright student as well. He wished to join the NDA and worked hard
towards it. Currently pursuing B.Sc Physical Science (with Computer Science) from Deen Dayal Upadhayay, Delhi
University, Kartikey is still keen at joining the NDA.
Kartikey may have taken time to settle in SGS, but ultimately he evolved into a better and a more responsible
individual which according to him are due to the efforts of his teachers and school environment.

          Shivam Rawat

Shivam will always be remembered as a “confident” boy. His forthcoming and explorative
attitude helped him do things differently. Shivam feels that he owes his strengths to his school
teachers especially Nischal sir, who always inspired him to explore the unknown.
Shivam was no different from his classmates and was as undecided as the rest of them. His
intern-ship at Vedatya in class XI and then XII helped him confirm his interests in Economics
over Physics. The scholarship that he won for his project during his intern-ship further
deepened his interest in business and its related aspects. Shivam, is currently pursuing B.A.
(Hons.) Economics from Hansraj College, Delhi University.
Besides academics, Shivam also excelled in music. He took his Trinity exam (grade 5) in piano while still in school.
According to him, teachers’ at SGS never restricted him to the prescribed books or syllabus and this helped him
master his skills. There is no denying this gave him confidence and prepared him to face life at college.
                                                                                                               165
