A glass ceiling is a metaphor used to represent an
invisible barrier that keeps one from rising beyond
a certain level as decided by the society. But do
we really need these glass ceilings even in the
modern world? What exactly is a modern world?
It’s not just a world of science and technology. The
thinking is what has to change and the existence
of a glass ceiling definitely needs to be broken.
Why do people say that disabled people just can’t
do anything? Great people like Stephen Hawking
and Helen Keller both decided to break the glass
ceiling. While Helen was blind and partially deaf,
Hawking was diagnosed with ASL; their disabilities
didn’t stop them from becoming great people,
did they? Actress Priyanka Chopra also became
the first woman to be recognized globally and
represent India at various International platforms.
She isn’t just working here but is making India
proud abroad as well.
What’s the glory in repeating what the others
have done? Life is a daring experience. Learn to
be different and cross the boundaries and walk
through the stereotypes and prejudices to break
the glass ceiling. Who will remember a regular
woman who lived with the stereotypes and didn’t
do anything different but everyone will remember
a woman who fought against the prejudices to
break the glass ceiling?
Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always
remember that you have within yourself the
strength, the patience and the passion to reach
out for the stars, break the glass ceiling and
change the world because that is what leaves
permanent footprints on the sand of time.

STEREOTYPES
Politics and human rights policy have changed
significantly throughout the second half of the
twentieth century, notably in relation to attitudes
about race, gender and sexuality, and although
they have nurtured a particular vision of social
justice, unfortunately, not all the problems of
equal opportunities at the workplace have been
solved.
To an extent, "Breaking the Glass Ceiling" policies
have proved their effectiveness, but cannot
abolish gender and racial inequalities. For this
reason, training and promotion activities as
a part of "Breaking Glass Ceiling" policies are
vital for successful organizational performance.
The significance of "Breaking Glass Ceiling"
policies is that it gives women opportunities
to be promoted and better paid, occupy high
administrative positions according to their skills
and professionalism.
In general, glass ceiling means the invisible barrier
for women and minority groups that prevent them
from being appointed to high administrative and
managerial positions. Discrimination on the
grounds of sex or national status is unlawful,
and has to be overcome in the work place. . It is
important therefore to understand the role of
equal opportunity policies and the pervasive
influences which it exercises over the behaviour
of people
