Self Confidence Self-confidence

How a child acts is directly related to the way he/she feels about himself/herself. It has been proven that children who feel worthy, valuable and accepted are less likely to engage in undesirable behaviour. They are susceptible to social and emotional problems if they do not develop a strong sense of self-worth.
  • Significance: Like any adult, children too demand and expect importance and respect. In other words, they need to feel that they are an integral part of this society and not left out.
  • Achievement: Sense of achievement and recognition boost the child's self esteem. When a child feels that he/she has failed, whether in school or in the personal life, they often give up. Thus it is important to recognise even the smallest work done by the child.

  • Influential-Ability: The ability to influence the world around us is an element of self-esteem. With this ability, a child can control his/her behaviour and gain other's respect.
  • Decision Making: A child feels confident when he/she takes his/her own decisions and that is respected and accepted by one and all in the family.

Under proper guidance of parents and teachers a child can go on to lead a balanced and productive life.
