29th to 30th September 2010 – Dussehra

Vijayadashami is a festival celebrated in varying forms across INDIA.

It is the culmination of the ten days annual Navaratri festival when the idols of Ravana, his brother Kumbhakarna and son Meghanad are erected and burnt by enthusiastic youths at sunset. This marks the victory of good over evil.

This festival was celebrated in our school with pomp and gaiety. A special assembly was presented by the students of Class IV. Students dressed up as Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman and the Vanar Sena, enacted the legendary triumph of Lord Rama over the demon king, Ravana. They also acquainted the audience with the historical relevance of the event in the form of an article and poem

To reinforce this message on the young minds, the students of Class – IB portrayed the mythological characters of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita and performed enthusiastically in their Special Assembly on Thursday, 30th September 2010.
