29th November 2016 – United We Stand, Divided We Fall

‘United we stand, divided we fall’- so goes the proverb. The meaning of this proverb is that if we stay together, then nobody can defeat us. However, if we keep fighting amongst ourselves over trivial matters, then outsiders may take advantage of our internal weakness. This is true both at micro and macro level. A large nation can stay free and independent only if the citizens and states of the country stay united. Similarly, if the members within a family support each other and stand together at difficult times, then no outsider puts his evil eyes on the family. To tell us more about the proverb, the students of class I B presented an assembly on the topic ‘UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL’ on 29 November 2016.

The assembly started with the students taking turn to throw light on the importance of unity. It was followed by a poem which was recited beautifully by all the students. Thereafter, the students enacted a skit which showed that unity is strength.

The assembly concluded with the distribution of certificates and medals to the winners of ‘CAMEL ART’ contest by the HOS, Ms. Sumana Dutta Sarkar.

22nd November 2016 – A Stitch in Time Saves Nine

“Never leave that till tomorrow which you can do today”
- Benjamin Franklin
The proverb ‘A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE’ highlights that prompt action should be taken to correct anything that goes wrong. It is much easier to repair the damage at an early stage. If ignored, even a small problem or difficulty may become too big to solve. A piece of cloth must be stitched at once even if slightly torn. If ignored, the hole or tear in the cloth may get widened beyond repair. In that case, the cloth may become useless. If a person falls ill, he should seek medical advice immediately else it may become too late to diagnose the problem. Similarly, it is very important to check bad habits at an early stage; else, it may not be possible to get control over them.

To tell us more about the proverb, the students of class I-A presented an informative assembly on the topic ‘A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE’ on 22 November 2016. The studentsspoke beautifully and laid stress upon the fact that anything wrong must be corrected as soon as possible. They enacted a skit to show that work done in time saves a lot of labour, later on and that one should always take right action at an opportune moment.

Thereafter, certificates were given away to the winners of ‘Clay Modeling’ competition (Classes Buds - Blooms) by the HOS, Ms. Sumana Dutta Sarkar.
