April 2016 - Astro Art Contest

SPACE, partnering with Astronomers Without Borders (AWB) have brought Children’s Astro-Art Contest and other fun-filled learning activities to the schools under the umbrella of Global Astronomy Month April (GAM) 2016. GAM is celebrated every year throughout the month of April by AWB uniting astronomy enthusiasts worldwide with its motto – One People, One Sky.

The theme for the Children’s Astro-Art Contest was “The Diverse Universe” and participants from several schools submitted their creative artworks which have been acknowledged both by SPACE and AWB.

Aakriti Bhargava of class IV-B has won second prize under the category of seven to ten years. The event provided our students an exciting opportunity to hone their creative skills.




29th April 2016 – Rope Skipping

Sachdeva Global School students participated in Rope Skipping Competition 2016 held at Shanti Gyan Vidya Peeth School, Sector-19, Dwarka, Delhil on 29th April 2016. The students performed very well and won Medals and Trophy.

29th April 2016 – Screening of Airlift

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Keeping this in mind Sachdeva Global School in collaboration with Times of India – NIE organized the screening of Airlift at Milan Cinema, Moti Nagar for the students of classes IX – X, on 29th April 2016.

Airlift – a film based on the true events that chronicled during the evacuation of Indians strangled in Kuwait, during Iraq – Kuwait war in 90’s. It was the biggest rescue operation in history. It also depicts the transformation of a selfish man into someone who worked selflessly for his people. The movie motivated the children and taught them to work selflessly for others.

It was a refreshing change from the daily routine and the students enjoyed it thoroughly.



26th April 2016 - Be Compassionate Towards the Old and the Disabled

The incidence of disabilities in our communities is far more common than we might realize. Ensuring that aged people and people with a disability have maximum quality of life is very important. With some time and effort, we can help enhance the quality of daily life for all those old and disabled persons we care about. People with disabilities are neither heroes not victims. They are as much a part of society as anyone else and deserve equal status in the community. To spread this message, the students of class II-B presented an assembly on the topic 'Be Compassionate towards the Old and the Disabled'.

The students urged the audience not to look down upon these persons as social burdens. In fact they must be encouraged to face life boldly and to feel that life still holds charm for them. The assembly concluded with extending wishes to the birthday students.

25th April 2016 – Being Picasso: Save Environment

Earth Day should encourage us to reflect on what we are doing to make our planet a more sustainable and livable place.

Continuing the celebration of Earth Day in school, a poster making competition named 'Being Picasso - Save Environment' was organized for the students of class I on 25th April 2016. It was the time to make the most of our creativity and to colour our thoughts out. Each student prepared a beautiful poster. The participants used their imagination and creativity and depicted their thoughts in the most appealing manner. The activity turned out to be highly enriching, enthralling and exciting for all the participants.

24th April 2016 – 2nd Open Delhi State Skating Championship

Skating is a great way to participate in a fitness activity which benefits both the mind and body.

Sachdeva Global School students participated in 2nd Open Delhi State Skating Championship held at Bal Bhavan International School, Sector-12, Dwarka, Delhi on 24th April 2016. The students performed very well and won 5 Gold, 6 Silver and 8 Bronze Medals.

22nd April 2016 – Trip to Indian Air Force Museum

On 22 April 2016 students of classes IV - V went on an educational trip to the Indian Air Force Museum located at Palam Air Force Station. The museum comprises of Roll of Honour, Wall of Fame, Models of Aircrafts and Pictures of Air Marshals. The students were made aware of Indian Aviation History and role of the Air Force in the various wars India has fought so far. The sight of various types of aeroplanes, rockets, bombs and missiles led to a deep understanding of the historical events of the past and the contribution of our country in the same. Overall it was a great educational trip, which witnessed a fair balance of enlightenment and entertainment.



19th April 2016 – Be Responsible – Conserve and Preserve

22nd April is observed as the Earth Day throughout the world. Earth Day challenges us to take seriously our job as caretakers of our natural environment. And to spread awareness about the same the students of Class II-A presented an informative assembly on the topic 'Be Responsible - Conserve & Preserve'.

The students sang a lively song dedicated to the Mother Earth in which they pledged to be the defenders and friends of the Earth.

They also spoke about making our lifestyles and personal habits environmental friendly. It was emphasized that all of us should join our hands together to make a difference.

During the assembly medals were given to the winners of 34th Delhi State Open Roller Skating Championship.

6th April 2016 – Yoga Championship

Sachdeva Global School students participated in 4th Inter School Yoga Championship 2016 held at N. K. Bagrodia Public School, Sector-4, Dwarka, Delhi.

5th April 2016 – Welcome Assembly

With the beginning of new session, the teachers of classes I - II conducted an assembly to welcome the students of classes Buds - II. The teachers presented a welcome song followed by the poem 'My School My Pride' in which different aspects of the school along with the availability of facilities and labs at SGS were highlighted. Thereafter the teachers asked fun-filled riddles to which the students answered very promptly. The assembly ended with extending wishes to the birthday students.

4th April 2016 – Yakult Workshop

A workshop for class – III students was organized on 4 April 2016 by volunteers from Yakult-A probiotic drink. The volunteers keenly explained the functioning of digestive system of a Human Body. Students were quizzed on questions related to the digestive system, which they answered very enthusiastically. Students were also explained about probiotics and its health benefits. They were given free sample of Yakult Probiotic drink at the end of the workshop.
