29th November 2013 – Talent Hunt (Buds – Blooms)

Every child has some inborn talent. To bring out the skills of very child a ‘Talent Hunt’ was conducted for the students of classes Buds – Blooms on 29th November 2013. Students displayed their talents ranging from singing, dancing to acting. The performances were breath taking and the audiences were happy to see such wonderful props. This competition helped the children in building self confidence and self esteem. The competition was thoroughly enjoyed by one and all.

27th November 2013 – Quiz: Plant Kingdom (Class II)

It is said that nature is the man’s best friend. With the intend of strengthening the relationship between man and nature an “Interschool Quiz competition” titled “The Plant Kingdom” was organized for the children of class II on 27th November 2013. The competition aimed at introducing the green kingdom to the young children. Six teams participated in the competition and they were asked a range of questions related to plants. The competition consisted of various rounds like: Identify the plant and its type, identify the parts of the plant etc. All the children participated confidently with a lot of fervor. For the first time the children came across the words like chlorophyll and photosynthesis.

The competition spread awareness about trees and plants and their significance in our life every day. The children also enjoyed the competition as they were enlightened with various hard to believe facts like – A strawberry has 200 seeds and a bamboo tree can grow up to 36 inches in a day.

The competition proved to be a good learning experience for the children. It taught them to be sensitive towards plants and nature and encouraged them to do their bit to save nature.

27th November 2013 – Quiz: Plant Kingdom (Class I)

“A quiz is a learning device meant to build a core of knowledge at a student’s fingertips, from which problem solving approach and creativity might spring.”

An interclass quiz competition was held on 27th November, 2013 based on the theme: Plant Kingdom. Twelve students were selected for the competition on the basis of their individual performance in the preliminary round. Six teams of two students each participated in the quiz. There were six rounds of questions in which multiple choice questions were asked. The participants were full of confidence and enthusiasm. The competition served as an assessment tool to check the knowledge of the students. It was a thoroughly fruitful endeavor.

26th November 2013 – Character Day

It is said “you may leave a novel but you cannot leave the character”. Such is the power of literary characters on a person. Keeping this in mind, SGS organized ‘Character Day’ for the students of class V-A. Students forgot themselves and took on the identities of their favourite literary characters like Cinderella, Birbal, Geronimo, etc. they enacted their favourite scenes from the novel and also told the reason of liking their respective characters. It was a huge learning experience for every student.

25th November 2013 – E - Waste Management

'A Commitment For Green Earth’

We live in a world saturated with technology. It's no surprise that many households and companies today find themselves saddled with used or IT equipment. It needs effective management. So SGS started e-waste management project. The objective of the project was to collect maximum amount of e-waste from the school and then send it to legal recycler company.

SGS E-WASTE JOURNEY
  • The project was started on 1st September 2013, in collaboration with Nokia (Planet ke Rakhwale School Programme)
  • A team of 7 students was made.
  • Project was introduced and discussed with the students during assembly.
  • E-waste collection point was made.
  • Workshops were conducted to create awareness about the harmful effects of E-waste.
  • Wednesday’s were fixed as e-waste submission day.
  • Creative media tools like Puppet shows and promotional videos were used to motivate the students and sensitize their minds.

  • 3 E-waste collection drives were carried out.
  • Efforts bore fruits and students started donating their e-waste.
  • Till now we have collected 113 kg of E-WASTE out of which 61kg (excluding 150 CFL and 36 Mobile phones) has already been given to Nokia for recycling.
  • To sustain the program we have done a tie up with R.W.A. of Salaria Officer Enclave, Sector-21, Dwarka, New Delhi - 110075

25th November 2013 – Grocery Bag Project

“Say no to plastic bags and yes to life”

At SGS we understand, appreciate and value our green gold (environment).Grocery bag project is a small step for better future. The grocery bag project was done by the students of classes III to X and this is the fourth consecutive year of continuing to spread awareness about the use of paper bags rather than plastic. Grocery bags were made by the students of Eco club and were distributed among all students of the school. They coloured and decorated the eco friendly bags and wrote slogans and messages on them. 800 such bags were returned to the Grocery stores in Dwarka where the customers got the message loud and clear! Students also interacted with the customers and motivated them to use handmade bags made of cloth or jute.

23rd – 24th November 2013 – Trip to Chokhi Dhani

Jaipur, the pink city of India, is an extremely popular tourist destination of Rajasthan. The school planned a fun and educational excursion to Jaipur for students of classes XI and XII on 23-24 November 2013. The students were taken to Jaipur by road and the journey helped in setting a friendly, collaborative mood among them. On reaching Jaipur, the students visited Jal Mahal and Hawa Mahal. Next they headed for Chokhi Dhani, a unique 5-star village resort that offers a beautiful blend of traditional and modern amenities in an ethnic environment. Traditional art, music, dances, games and various recreational activities created a magical evening for all. The students relished delicious Rajasthani cuisine before returning to their rooms.

The following day began early with a visit to the City Palace and then to the grand Amer Fort, which is known for its vivid Indian architecture. Here, students explored various historical facts. By evening, the journey back to Delhi commenced. On the whole, this experience not only provided the students with an opportunity to enhance their knowledge about the rich culture of India but also attain a great sense of belongingness, togetherness and friendship.



22nd November 2013 – English Rhyme Recitation Competition (Class II)

“Poetry is the universal language which the heart holds with nature and itself”.

Poetry is the best medium to let the imaginations soar. With the quest of giving their imagination a flight, an interclass Rhyme Recitation Competition was organized for the children of class II. The theme of the competition was “My Dream World”. The children participated enthusiastically to unveil their idea of a dream world. The children spoke with a lot of confidence and the use of props and colourful costumes added elegance to the performance of these budding talents. Children made beautiful props using their own photograph to depict their own dream world. It was an enriching experience for the children, as they got an opportunity to showcase their confidence, talent and imaginations.

(21st – 24th) November 2013 – Inter Zonal Skating Championship 2013

SGS students participated in Inter Zonal Skating Championship 2013 held at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium Bawana. The students of Sachdeva Global School performed extremely well and won 3 Silver and 1 Bronze Medals.

Shubham Singh has been selected for SGFI Nationals to be held at Virar, Mumbai in the Month of January 2014.










20th November 2013 – English Rhyme Recitation Competition (Class I)

Rhyme recitation is an art of expression of thoughts and understanding towards English literature. An interclass English Rhyme Recitation Competition was held on 20th November 2013 for the students of Class – I. The theme of the competition was ‘Books’. Eighteen students were selected for the competition on the basis of their performance in the preliminary round. The students were full of confidence and poise. They recited wonderful poems and carried spectacular props. The head of the school Mrs. Novita Chopra addressed the students praising their efforts and motivating them for participation.

18th November 2013 – Assembly GuruPurab

“Satguru nanak pargateya miti dhund jag chaanan hova”

On the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak birthday, the students of Class - I D presented an assembly on 18th November, 2013. Gurupurab also known as Guru Nanak's Prakash Utsav, celebrates the birth of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak. This is one of the most sacred festivals in Sikhism. The students spoke about the significance of the festival. They threw light on the life and teachings of the great Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Five students were dressed beautifully as the Panj Pyaare (the five devoted spirits beloved of the Guru). Some of the students sang a spiritual shabad ‘Satguru Main Teri Patang’ .The students participated with great enthusiasm and fervor.

14th November 2013 – Visit To Bank

In an endeavour to provide practical experience, as part of CBSE curriculum for commerce. Students of class XI B visited SBI Bank, Dwarka along with the teachers to understand and observe the banking activities.

Students were shown the entire process of depositing and withdrawal of cash at various counters, lockers availability, depositing of cheque and priority banking facility etc. Students were made familiar with various documents used in bank like pay in slip, cheque book and pass book. At the end, queries of students were addressed well by the employees of the Bank. The visit was very informative and such an exposure will certainly enrich awareness among the students.



14th November 2013 – Children's Day and Muharram

Children's Day is to celebrate "childhood". In India, children’s day is celebrated on 14th of November. It marks the birth of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of India. Students of Class I-C presented a special assembly on 13th November, 2013. The theme of the assembly was Children's Day and Muharram. The assembly began with a prayer ‘Tu Hi Daata’. The students spoke about the significance of Children's Day and Muharram. They recited a beautiful poem on Bal Diwas and gave a wonderful dance performance also. It was followed by the distribution of certificates. The assembly was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

13th November 2013 – Visit to Gurdwara (Buds - Blooms)

Gurupurab also known as Guru Nanak Jayanti is one of the auspicious religious festivals celebrated in India to commemorate and remember the birth and philosophy of Guru Nanak, first Sikh Guru. We at Sachdeva Global School believe in secularism and celebrate festivals of all religions. In this regard, students of classes Buds – Blooms were taken to Gurdwara on 13th Nov. 2013 where they were told the importance of the Sikh Gurus. They were also made aware of some of their teachings. Children were also provided with some ‘Khada Prasad’ at the end. The children had great fun visiting Gurdwara and knowing their traditions and customs.

12th November 2013 – Puppet Show

Puppetry is an ancient form of artistic expression which is a variation on storytelling. In puppetry, a drama unfolds that is entirely or primarily acted out by specialized representational object which are manipulated by a puppeteer. The human animator may or may not be visible to the audience. Puppets are widely considered to be educational and entertainment tools for children of all ages.

Keeping in mind the forthcoming Children’s Day the school organized a puppet show in the school premises for the students of Buds and Blooms on 12th November, 2013. This puppet show was conducted by Hindustan Times, HT Pace and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all students.

12th November 2013 – Visit to Gurdwara (Classes I – II)

Gurdwara means “doorway to the Guru.” Students of classes – I and II visited a Gurdwara in Dwarka on 12th November, 2013. The students bowed to the Guru Granth Sahib and recited the prayers ‘Ek Onkar’ and ‘Satnaam Waheguru’. They were explained that they should be honest and sincere. It was followed by the Ardaas and Distribution of Prasad. It was a divine experience for the children as well as the teachers.

6th November 2013 – Nickelodeon Workshop

Nickelodeon (commonly referred to as Nick) television network that is aimed mainly at young children, conducted a workshop with class II – III students at Sachdeva Global School on 6th November 2013.

Cartoons are a great way to challenge thinking process about an issue in young minds. Cartoons capture new ideas through humour, satire and caricature, bringing together disparate ideas or symbols. Cartoons can be used in the global education classroom to:
  • Stimulate interest and involve students
  • Challenge thinking on controversial topics
  • Analyze historical or current issues
  • Gauge understanding and attitudes
  • Develop visual literacy
Acknowledging these ideas, SGS organized an interesting workshop for young learners to engage them back in active thinking and learning after Diwali break. Students were shown some cartoon videos from the famous shows like “Motu Patlu” and “Pakdam Pakdai” airing on Nickelodeon.

It was followed by asking questions to students based on the videos, playing games and distribution of prizes. Students were filled with great energy and enthusiasm on watching their favourite cartoon series. They comprehended the videos and answered the questions excitedly. Games “Feed the Motu” and “Blindfold” were also enjoyed thoroughly by the kids. Winners got a stationery boxes, flags and stickers etc. The session was indeed filled with exciting and joyful activities for the students. The workshop also gave an idea to teachers that cartoon videos can be used as learning tool and they can serve as an easy way to stimulate interest in students across a range of literacy levels.

1st November 2013 – DIWALI: THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

A special assembly was presented by the students of Class VI-A and I-B on Ist November 2013. The theme of the assembly was DIWALI – THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS. The assembly began with a prayer to the almighty. The students spoke about the significance of Diwali. It was followed by a colourful dance performance presented by the children of Class I-B. A skit was presented by the students of Class VI-A about the bad effects of fire crackers. It gave a message to the students that they should refrain from bursting fire crackers to save the environment. The assembly concluded with prize distribution for various events and words of appreciation from the head of the school Mrs. Novita Chopra.
