31st July 2013 - Experiment on water

The students of Blooms did an experiment on water. The various properties of water were discussed like it is odourless, tasteless and colourless. The children tasted water from their water bottles and then smelled it too. Later colour was added into a glass of water to show how quickly water changes colour. This was followed by the smart class module on water. Children thoroughly enjoyed the activity.

31st July 2013 – JAM Session

“Speaking on stage is an opportunity in itself. It is a chance to express yourself and share your views with the audience.”

In an endeavour towards grooming of students to inculcate qualities of confidence and healthy competitiveness, the students of Buds had a JAM SESSION – I Love my School because...

The purpose of this JAM SESSION is to boost self esteem, improve public speaking and to build confidence in children. Standing on a stage and reciting lines offers the small kids of Buds the obvious benefits of practicing public speaking skills. Through this JAM SESSION, the children of Buds gained the confidence to advocate for themselves and express themselves better and with more style.

30th July 2013 – Just A Minute

Just A Minute (JAM) Competition was held on 30th July, 2013 for the students of class II. The topic of the competition was ‘My Favourite Sport’. Students of all three sections participated in the competition with a lot of vigour and zeal. Students spoke with props of their related sport. The confidence level of the students was very high. This competition served as a platform to enhance their confidence and communication skills.

20th and 27th July 2013 - Interactive Session with Parents

  • Our Commitment: Based on the minutes of previous interactive session, following update was given to the parents.

    • CCTVs are being installed in the campus to ensure Safety & Security of Students. To ensure more exposure, Annual Inter School Fest ‘Confluence’ was conducted successfully and students are participating in number of interschool competitions, bringing number of laurels to the school.
    • Improved infrastructure with ‘Robotics’ and ‘English Labs’ for the students and AC hall for the workshops / interactive sessions.
    • Life skill workshop for students, teachers and parents by ‘PROMISE’ for developing social, emotional and communication skills of students has been arranged.
    • School now has experienced, qualified, full time professional counselor for students.
    • School conducts workshops and medical check-ups to ensure Health & Hygiene of the students. Very high standards are maintained in the Cafeteria to provide very hygiene and healthy food.
    • Newsletter “GLOBALITIES in Action….” released, on Graduation Day was first in the series of Quarterly magazine that the school will be releasing in future.
  • National level achievements were highlighted

    • 5 students have cleared the Piano exam with distinction and merit from the Trinity College of London.
    • An action plan on waste segregation was submitted by the student of class X Ms. S. Padmashree and our eco club teacher Ms. Megha. She has been declared eligible for Paryavaran Mitra Puruskar 2013 – Best Student Award. Only 35 schools have been selected out of 1000 who applied and SGS is one of them. It is a CSE (centre of Science and Environment) department’s initiative.
    • Badminton Association of India has declared a National Ranking for Ms. Nithila Ande of Class V, of SGS. She will be representing school at various All India Badminton (U-13) Tournaments.
  • Open Interactive session with parents was held in which few issues were discussed and number of parents openly appreciated the school staff and management.
  • Finally, ‘Rich life’ who world wide helps individuals, institutions, corporate & countries to create a focused & balanced Gen next conducted workshop on finding biological potential of children using very scientific method of finger prints for junior school parents.
  • For senior school parents, resource person from ‘PROMISE’ took a workshop on developing ‘life skills’ among the students and parenting.
  • Vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Chopra to one & all present.



27th & 28th July 2013 - Delhi State Inter School Roller Skating Championship – 2013

Skating is a great way to participate in a fitness activity that benefits both the mind and body.

SGS students participated in Delhi State Inter School Roller Skating Championship on 27th & 28th July 2013. Almost 425 skaters participated. The students of Sachdeva Global School performed extremely well and won 4 Gold, 5 Silver and 4 Bronze Medals.

26th July 2013 - Life Skill Workshop for Students

A series of workshops were conducted by the Life Skill Partner “Promise” to empower the students with the ‘all – important’, life skill of being great conversationalists.

The students were made to appreciate the importance of this skill in today’s lifestyle. They were given certain tips on improving their conversation skills. They were advised to use ‘ABC’ and ‘TIS’ in their conversation wherein ‘ABC’ stands for equal emphasis on “Audience, Body Language and Content” while TIS stands for “Topic, Importance and Speaker”.

Each student was asked to present a topic publically. The same learning carried on in the classrooms where teachers asked the students to present topics related to their subjects in a similar way.

Thus it ensured complete learning of the skill of ‘public speaking’ for all students.

23rd July 2013 - Show and Tell Competition (Wonders of Science)

“Countless are the wonders of science”

Show and Tell Competition was held on 23rd July 2013 for the students of class – I. The theme of the competition was ‘Wonders of Science’. The students showed innovative props like laptop, phone and satellite etc. and explained their prop with great confidence some of the students spoke about the advance development of technology which has completely revolutionized our way of life. This competition helped the students to learn about wonders of science which we about wonders of science which we see in every walk of life.

(23rd – 26th) July 2013 - National Leadership Workshop 2013

S. Padmashree a student of class X along with a teacher Ms. Megha Chaudhary attended the National Leadership Workshop which held from 23rd July to 26th July at CEE Ahmedabad. The workshop was attended by 26 students selected from all over India through a three level selection process.

The workshop started with ice breaker session followed by project based learning. Next session was by Prof. Pradyumna Vyas at National Institute of Design. Students were very excited to interact with him and were clarifying many of their doubts related to the topic. After the lunch, Understanding Environment session was facilitated by Mr Pramod Sharma and Ms Annie Gregory wherein the components of environment and their interdependence were discussed. The teacher were taken to ADALAJ-STEPWELL, The well was built in 1499 A.D. by Queen Rudabai and is several stories in depth. At night, the whole group headed to IIM Ahmedabad to have an interaction with Dr. Anil Gupta, Professor, IIM Ahmedabad on Environment. The lively professor did create an atmosphere of boundless energy among the students and he said that we can’t change the world but we can definitely change ourselves. 26th July started with a session by Mr. Sanjay Joshi on communication for change. Then the students with their mentors had a group discussion with the team members of CCE on their action plans followed by the exhibition of the same. Training programe certificate was given to the teacher and the student was trained to execute the action plan in the school. It was a great learning experience!

24th July 2013 - Parent’s Day Assembly

The students of class BLOOMS-A presented an assembly on ‘Parent’s Day’. They began by highlighting the importance of parent’s in our lives. Children recited rhymes sang a song and a summarization on ‘My Family’. The assembly inculcated the value of loving and respecting our parents and importance of living as a family.

24th July 2013 - Quiz Competition

An Inter House Quiz competition was organized by SGS for the students of classes VI – VIII on 24.07.2013. There were four teams representing four houses namely Glory, Pride, Peace and Harmony. Each team had 3 students, one from each standard (VI – VIII).

All the participating teams came up with good answers during the quiz and enjoyed every round.

19th July 2013 - Scholastic Book Fair

Books are a mirror of one’s soul which enrich the mind and soothe the heart. Sachdeva Global School organized Scholastic book fair on 20th July for elementary classes and on 27th July for Senior classes. The books were displayed 2 days before the actual ‘Book fair’ event. The students were given the chance to browse the books of different disciplines of Education. Fiction saw the greatest takers. The aim was to inculcate reading habits among students.

The children enjoyed the fair and picked books varying from science to spooky stories from fictions to facts. Teachers helped the children in selecting the books. A lucky draw was also organized by the Scholastic group for book lovers. It saw an overwhelming response from students and parents who had come to attend the PTM.

19th July 2013 - Nelson Mandela Day Assembly

Nelson Mandela Day is an Annual International Day in honour of Nelson Mandela, celebrated each 18th of July on Mandela’s birthday. Nelson Mandela is a South African – apartheid revolutionary and politician who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. His government focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid through tackling institutionalized racism, poverty and inequality and fostering racial reconciliation.

To honour the legacy and values of Mandela, Class IX-A conducted an assembly on 19th July, where students threw light on his life and his thoughts and conveyed how a single individual could transform the world and made an impact.

17th July 2013 - Inter House Volleyball Final

SGS Inter House Volleyball Competition final 2013 was played on Wednesday, 17th July 2013.

During the preceding week number of matches were played between the House teams. Students enjoyed and learned a number of skills as well.

Harmony House pulled maximum points to beat three other houses.

Pride House came IInd while, Glory House was adjudged IIIrd.

16th July 2013 – Mock Drill for Fire and Life Safety

A Mock Drill for fire and safety was held on 16th July 2013, at 11:00 a.m. as directed by the Public Grievance Commission.

The Mock Drill was very informative, specially for the students. The school had invited a few officials from the Fire Safety Department for a general training on using fire equipments and steps to be taken at the time of fire or any other emergency.

The purpose of this Mock Drill was to make the students practice for safe and quick evacuation of the premises in the event of a fire or other emergencies.

16th July 2013 – Assembly Rainy Season

Students of class I–D presented an assembly on 16th July 2013, on the topic ‘Rainy Season’.

Some students spoke about the importance of this season. The benefits, clothes we wear, weather conditions and advantages to our environment. A rhyme was also presented by the students on the theme “Can you hear the rain”. The students also presented a dance performance on the song ‘Abke sawaan aise barse’. The students were dressed beautifully along with their vibrant umbrellas they set the mood of the Rainy Season.

It was followed by the ‘Thought of the day’ and Joke, also distribution of certificates for the event, ‘Hindi Kavita Pratiyogita’ which was held on 14th May 2013. The students participated with lot of confidence and enthusiasm. Their efforts were praised by the head of the school Mrs. Novita Chopra.

12th July 2013 – World Population Day

To commemorate World Population Day which is celebrated on 11th July 2013. The students of VIII – B conducted an assembly on 12th July 2013 focusing on issue of over population.

The assembly aimed at making the children aware about the causes and effects of the increasing population, supporting it with facts and figures. A poem based on the same theme sensitized the students towards the same. It was an informative assembly which raised the awareness of student’s community towards this burning issue.

12th July 2013 - ‘Jingle Time’ Competition

The consumer able products play a very important role in our day to day life. The children of Blooms showcased various products like milk, chocolate, pencil, paste, soap, looks, honey, etc along with appropriate costume and props. The high point of the competition was the peppy and catchy original taglines recited by the children. The competition was thoroughly enjoyed by one and all.

11th July 2013 - Astronomy Club Workshop

Students aspiring to become member of Astronomy Club of Sachdeva Global School attended a workshop conducted by Antriksh Education on ISS Earth Kam which is a NASA sponsored program started in 1996. This program allows student of middle school to request high-quality photographs of their planet taken from the Space Shuttle and International Space Station. Since its creation, thousands of photographs of Earth have been taken by digital cameras on select space flights and the International Space Station. The digitized images are transmitted from orbit via a TDRSS Ku band satellite link to Johnson Space Center Mission Control.

Each student participating in this mega event was given two codes to request the photograph of his / her selected location. Students also sent messages and best wishes to the astronauts. The students felt excited and elated to be able to connect to the international community in this novel way.

8th July 2013 – Van Mahotsav

Class I-C presented an assembly on 8th July 2013 on the topic ‘Van Mahotsav’. Some students spoke about the importance of Van Mahotsav and need of planting trees to protect our environment. A rhyme was also presented by the students on the theme ‘Go Green’. It was followed by the ‘Thought of the day’. The students participated enthusiastically and their efforts were appreciated by the head of the school Mrs. Novita Chopra.

5th July 2013 – Science Model Making

Students of SGS showcased their scientific skills and their inventive spirit by participating in Inter School Model Making Competition held at MRV Model School. The topic for Senior Group (XI – XII) was “Disaster Management” and for Junior Group (IX - X) “Energy Conservation”. Student brought laurels to the school by winning second position in senior group and third position in junior group. Name of the students are as follows.

4th July 2013 – Concept of ‘AIR’

The students of classes Blooms explored the concept of ‘AIR’ and its properties. The teacher instructed the children to keep their hand under the nose and breathe out the air. This was continued keeping their hands in front of their mouth and blowing the air out. Concept was further explained by switching ‘off’ and ‘on’ the classroom fans.

Finally the surprise was out and they were excited to see the bright colour of balloons being distributed amongst them by the teacher. All of them were trying their best to blow the ‘air’ in the balloons and make it as big as possible. This activity was thoroughly enjoyed by the students and they learnt the concept of ‘Air’ in an informal – play way method.

1st July 2013 - Balloon Bursting Activity

Smiles, yawns and tears as kids return to school after summer vacations. It was the first day of school for children of Kindergarten after a long summer break.

A balloon bursting activity was conducted in the classes as a ‘welcome back’, activity for kids. Through this activity, recognition of letter ‘b’ also took place. Thus informal learning was done through playway method. It was an interesting activity and the children had great fun.
