28th February 2013 - Show and Tell Competition

Show and Tell Competition was held on 28th February 2013 in which the students of class Blooms participated. As per the theme the participants brought different props related to the theme – ‘My School / My House’. They talked about laptop, white board and slate under the topic, objects in my school. Few of them spoke about their house and different rooms in it. This competition not only enriched the knowledge base of the children but also enhanced their speaking skills and ‘on stage’ confidence.

23rd February 2013 - Aashirwad Ceremony

Puja and Hawan was organized for SGS students of classes IX–X to seek the blessings of almighty for their upcoming exams by the CBSE Students came along with their parents and felt energized by the positive energies emanated.

The ceremony ended with students being presented with their Examination Admit Cards and Best of Luck, cards made by the teachers.

22nd February 2013 - Assembly Our Helpers

An individual cannot perform any task without the help of the community. To show the importance of different professional in our daily life, an Assembly was presented by students of class Buds-B. Students were dressed in different uniforms worn by people who help us. There were doctors, Astronauts, chef, teacher and many other characters showcased on stage. The students also enacted a rhyme to elaborate the topic our community helpers.

21 February 2013 – Joy of Giving - Trip to Goonj

As part of the social initiatives of the school, a delegation of students and teachers visited Goonj, an NGO committed to social upliftment, at its Head office at Sarita Vihar on 21st February 2013. This delegation carried various articles collected by the school students as donation to the poor and underprivileged.

The visit was able to inculcate 32 brand ambassadors of Class VIII towards the noble cause for which GOONJ is working, a way in which society gives back to society. Some of the simple but effective initiatives taken up by Goonj are:

a). Vastra Samman: Reusing old clothes to solve the problems of poor to some extent.

b). Cloth for work: Turn very old charitable cloth into a resource for development work in Indian villages.

c). Not just a piece of cloth: Providing clean cloth and preventing hygiene problems in women.

d). School to School: Forging long-term strategic relationship between urban and rural schools.

e). Rahat Floods: Collecting relief for people affected by floods.

f). Rahat Winters: Winter campaign for the underprivileged.

g). Recycling: Recycling of used materials using ingenuity.

The exposure to our students for this cause ensured awareness and sensitivity towards requirements of the society. We hope that this endeavour will be a stepping stone towards students’ involvement in social causes.

20th February 2013 - Inter House Taekwondo Competition

Sachdeva Global School organized Inter House Taekwondo Competition (Classes III – IX) on Wednesday, 20th February 2013. The participants stunned everyone by their Martial Arts. In the Junior Category (Boys), Aryan Patial (V-A) of Glory House emerged victorious and in Senior Category (Boys) Bhuvnesh Sangwan (VIII-A) of Pride House won the final round.

The girls put up equal competition as Nikita Singh of VIII-A of Glory House impressed everyone by winning the Senior Category of Taekwondo (Girls).

18th February 2013 - Workshop on Medical Emergencies

It is rightly said “Safety First is Safety Always”

With this aim in mind, a workshop on ‘First Aid’ was conducted by CAT Ambulance for the students of Sachdeva Global School. The goal of the workshop was educating students about the necessary life saving skills and techniques. The students learnt how with timely aid, a person’s life can be saved and further aggravation of an injury can be prevented. The various first aid techniques which were taught ore Recovery Position, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation on and Chocking Management.

16th February 2013 – Workshop for Teachers

Sachdeva Global School organized a workshop for the Science, Maths and English teachers on Saturday, 16th February 2013. The workshop included the usage of audio visual aid for teaching different concepts to the children. The software provided an interactive manner of teaching learning. The students could test their knowledge through various quizzes and they would also be provided with a detailed result showing the strength and weakness of each and every child. The report card would show the areas / concept, where the child needs to work hard in each chapter. Hence it was a step ahead of the other audio visual software’s, helping the students to cover up in their weak areas.

15th February 2013 – Special Assembly Basant Panchami

The students of classes BUDS- A and V-A had a special assembly on Basant Panchami. The assembly began with a tribute to Maa Saraswati with ‘Saraswati Vandana’, followed by Gayatri Mantra. The students also enlightened everybody about the festival of Basant Panchami. A poem on Basant Panchami was recited by the children followed by dance performances by BUDS –A and V-A.

12th February 2013 - Eco Meet cum Exhibition-2013

A team of four students of classes VI - VIII along with Science Teacher, Ms. Megha visited the Annual Eco Meet cum Exhibition which was organized by Govt. of NCT of Delhi on 12th February 2013 at Talkatora Stadium. The Hon’ble Chief Minister – Mrs. Sheila Dikshit, was the chief guest of the annual eco meet.

The exhibition demonstrated various small and big initiatives towards protection of the environment. Stalls were put up by various schools and colleges of Delhi displaying the various eco friendly items, paintings, showcasing the various activities/projects undertaken by them to conserve and protect the environment and disseminated the knowledge to general public by explaining about their activities, initiatives and responsibilities for environment. School children also put up some cultural performances like Dance, Skit, and Street play etc. on environment in order to create awareness and sensitivity. It was exciting for everybody present and also a great learning experience. Students learnt a great deal from the exhibition.

11th February 2013 – Donation for a social cause

The workshop conducted in the school premises on 11th February 2013 had appealed to the students for voluntary contribution towards patients of Hemophilia.

The students empathized with the cause and a handsome amount of Rs 14300/- was collected and donated to the Hemophilia Federation India.





11th February 2013 - Hemophilia Workshop

A workshop was organized by ‘Hemophilia Federation of India’ for the students of Sachdeva Global School. The workshop aimed to sensitize and spread awareness students amongst about the genetic, life threatening disorder Hemophilia. The students were informed about the symptoms and the treatment of the disease. It was followed by an active question – answer session in which the students not only answered the questions about the disease but also clarified their doubts. To encourage children to participate voluntary in social initiatives. The workshop ended with an appeal for donation for the cause of Hemophilia.

9th February 2013 - Visit to National Museum & Gallery of Modern Art

Art loving students of classes VI – X were taken to National Museum to see the exhibits displayed by Archaeological Survey of India, titled as ‘Rediscovering India’, which celebrated its 150th Anniversary. Original Artifacts supported by photo blow-ups, graphics etc. were on display in the exhibition. Detailed prospectuses were given to the students. The highlights of the exhibition were the landmark achievements made by ASI in the last 50 years. Students took deep interest in watching the exhibits, which represented the Harappa and Indus Valley civilizations and their history. Students also enjoyed the solo show of the paintings of Amrita Shergill at National Gallery of Modern Art. The show represented the lifelong collection of her paintings in oil colours, water colour, charcoal, wash on paper, acrylic etc.

It was a learning and a fun filled experience for our budding artists.

8th February 2013 – Importance of Clothes

Students of class Blooms-C presented an Assembly on ‘Importance of Clothes’. Children spoke about clothes worn in different seasons using placards. The importance of the same was depicted by entertaining dance performance wherein students showcased costumes worn in different states. The performance was enjoyed by one and all in the assembly and also strengthened the knowledge base about states of India and related attire.

07th February 2013 – HT Painting Competition

Painting Competition was organized in collaboration with Hindustan Times for classes III – VIII under two groups. III – V – School Chale Hum (Group A) VI – VIII – When I grow up. I want to become and Right to Education (GroupB). Students took keen interest in participating and painting their feelings and concern for the same. All the students were given certificates of participating and two paintings of our students were selected for the exhibition conducted by Hindustan Times at Dilli Haat.

All paintings were at sale and the amount collected proceeded towards the cause of educating underprivileged children. Sanjay Bhattacharya; a well know artist took over the ceremony and painted few canvas’s with children.

7th February 2013 – CAP DECORATION

Kids love decorating things!

The students of classes BUDS enjoyed their day by making interesting caps and decorating them. They were given a paper cutout and were helped by the teacher to form the shape of a cap. Once the paper cap was ready they were allowed to decorate it using attractive material of their choice. This activity showcased their imaginative skills in decorating their respective caps.

7th February 2013 - Paryavaran Mitra Painting Competition

Painting Competition was organized for classes III – VIII which was categorized in two different groups with the following themes –

Group A - III-V – Energy and Environment
Group B – VI – VIII – Save Fuel Yaani Save Money

Participation in this National Level Painting Competition of petroleum conservation research association provided children an opportunity to express their concern on energy conservation and display their talent.

Students took initiative to create awareness to meet the challenges of environmental sustainability at their spheres of influence. They painted their sheets on how one should use solar cars, electric cars to save fuel and how we can save our future by saving our energy and environment.

Following students were awarded Merit Certificates and their paintings got selected for the Regional and National level.

6th February 2013 – Time Management Workshop

Time and wave never wait for anyone Time Management holds a vital place in the life of every student. Effective management helps them in saving time for studies as well as outdoor activities which in turn helps them to grow physically and mentally.

Time Management workshop was organized in Sachdeva Global School, Dwarka on 6th February 2013, in collaboration with HT Pace, to help the students as they are nearing their exams. Mr. A D Bhatt, speaker, provided students with some effective tips and also told them about the importance of time. He even ensured them that proper utilization of time can help them score better marks and hence a good result altogether.

The workshop served as an eye opener for the students.

5th February 2013 – HTML Quiz Contest

24 Students from classes VIII - X participated in Quiz contest (HTML-Flash-Photoshop) conducted by Dream zone, school of creative studies.

Our children brought laurels glory to the school by bagging one trophy, 3 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. We are proud of these budding computer specialists:

2nd February 2013 - PHYSICAL FITNESS WORKSHOP BY ‘LEAPSTART’

‘Healthy mind rests in a healthy body’.

Physical fitness is a prerequisite to mental ability. In a way to crystalize this into reality, Sachdeva Global School planned a workshop on Saturday, 2nd February 2013, in collaboration with ‘LEAPSTART’- a premiere Physical education and Sports Specialisation Company. Parents of the students of Classes Buds - Blooms were invited to this unique and interactive workshop. Parents alongwith their wards were involved in a special training program, wherein fine motor skills alongwith eye-hand-leg coordination was further strengthened. Games involved playing with pylons, coloured scarfs and parachute, which also enriched the vocabulary of the pupil alongside strengthening their knowledge about colours. The session was indeed a great exposure for students as well as parents to gain knowledge about the importance of structured sports activities in the life of a young learner.

On 2nd February 2013 – Painting Competition

On the spot painting competition was organized by ‘Hindustan Times’ on 6th December 2012 for classes III – VIII. Students from SGS participated with enthusiasm & zeal.

Two paintings of Gunnika Bhatia (III-A) & Nikita Singh (VIII-A) have been selected by the judges for the next level, wherein the paintings will be exhibited at Delhi Haat on 7th February 2013. The theme for Gunnika’s painting was ‘When I grow up I want to become a ………’ & the theme for Nikita’s painting was ‘Right to Education’.

The final selection will be done in the exhibition, by renowned painters, sponsored by HT, where the best paintings will be awarded. We congratulate both the students and wish them luck for the second level.

1st February 2013 - Art Teacher’s Meet

Khushboo Bhutani and Preeti Puri (art teachers) attended the Art Teachers’ Meet which was organized in Titiksha Public School, Sector-11, Rohini by Camlin Kukuyo. The workshop emphasized on the importance of art in education and our life. A PPT was shown which showcased that art is the first normal expression of a child and how it helps the child to express his experiences about his life; thus giving him joy. It also increases the child’s power of perception and visualization.

The workshop showed how Child Art is different from Adult Art. Child Art (upto 12 years) develops fine motor skills; and other basic skills like observation, imagination, concentration etc. It even helps in helping ADHD students to calm down. Hence it is important to encourage child artists and acknowledge all. There was a demonstration of the wide range of colours and brushes and other art related material. The workshop was a huge learning experience to the teachers.
