Involvement
Academic Help: The importance of parental involvement as an accelerating and motivating factor in their children's education is a worldwide accepted fact. Active participating parents help their child in their academic development by going to school and participating in open houses. By keenly observing the behaviour of their children, they can rightly judge the kind of behaviour or allocation of resources required for their children. Such caring parents can also motivate teachers to become more attentive towards a particular student, thus maintaining the cycle of parent teacher involvement.
Interaction: Parental involvement can be seen to fall into three types:
- Behavioral
- Intellectual
- Personal
To socialize with their children, parents adopt the techniques of calm discussion and pro-active teaching. Discussions could also serve as a solution and lessening behavioral problems of the child.
Parental Instructions: Children can develop irreversible behavioral and emotional problems, if there is absence of proper parental guidance. They resort to unruly behaviour, thinking that in this way they can fulfill their wishes.
Avoidance Behaviours: Avoidance behaviours revolve around our fears and can ruin everything. Relationships are very fragile and it doesn't take long for the one who avoids dealing with relationship problems to make big problems with one’s we care the most about.
Dominant Parents: Dominating nature of the adult hampers the holistic development of the child. A dominant parent could foster obsessive children. If the parents impose their wishes on the child, it is harder for the child to have harmonious passion for his/her favourite activity.
